Tailors

Anyone know of any tailors in Medellin? Or where to get some decent casual and formal shirts? The variety in Arturo Calle is a bit bland! I've heard there is a decent tailor near Lleras. Cheers Conor ...

Airline websites

Afternoon, I've been looking to book tickets to Colombia from the UK and I found flights on American Airlines for £610 which I thought wasn't so bad. This was with me selecting that I was a UK resident at the start. However, if I say I am a "US or Other" resident the price is $1,000 (or about £500). Does anyone know if there are ramifications for saying I am a resident of the "US or other" when I'm not? i.e. would the ticket be null and void? Cheers Conor ...

Rental costs

Quick question, Is it normal for the apartment owner to pay the monthly admin fee or for the tenant? I know in the UK I've always had to pay the monthly administration/cleaning fees as a tenant. And does COP$1,300,000 for a 3 bed apartment in Sabeneta appear reasonable (about 100m)? (New building) Cheers ...

Colombian DVDs

Afternoon people, Does anyone know if Colombian DVDs work on UK computers? (I presume consoles are locked). I want to buy a load of Colombian films but don´t want to waste the money! As an aside, I was quoted COP$6m for a 10 day trip to Mompos and then back to San Augustin and Tierradentro and then finally into Medellin. Ouch... Conor ...

FourFourTwo

For those in the UK, FourFourTwo magazine are running an article on the Cali football derby.

UK - Colombia plug converter

Hey guys

I've been in Medellin for nearly 2 weeks and I still haven't found a charge converter for my mobile phone but more importantly my camera. I was in parque lleres last night for the match and the place went mental! Anyway, I was really annoyed I didn't have the camera so if anyone knows where to get the UK - Colombian converter (3-pin to 2 pin) I would be much obliged.

Cheers

Irish Whiskey in Colombia?

Hey

I'm heading to Medellin this summer and will probably be staying with a family and I've been told that among other things a good gift for them would be spirits. Do many Colombians drink spirits i.e. Whiskey, and if so does anyone know if the brands of Bushmills, Midleton, Jameson, Famous Grouse, Teachers etc. are already freely available in Colombia?

Another obvious gift would be cystral. But tastes vary differently across countries e.g. we Brits like it ni ...

Spanish Schools in Medellin

Good Morning everybody!

This is my first time posting and only recently discovered this website.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any Spanish for foreigners courses available in Medellin? I already know about Nueva Lingua and EAFIT but I was looking for anymore.

My plan is to head to Colombia Mid June till Mid September and I managed to get some reasonably cheap flights from London to Bogota (£590) with Delta.

Any other advice f ...
