Take care and bye, el pibe Lucas.

Colombiche says on Aug 13, 2007, 07:57:

(Rafael Godoy)

Lucas Freley says on Aug 13, 2007, 11:59:

Colombiche says on Aug 13, 2007, 12:56:

(Rafael Godoy)

Lucas Freley says on Aug 13, 2007, 14:38:

Me hiciste dar hambre...jaja.

I took the bus along St. Clair yesterday towards Dufferin, and near Oakwood I saw 2 places of note: One was called 'La Paisa' and I think it was a Colombian restaurant, another was called 'Mi Tierra' and it said on the sign something like "Colombian and Latin American goods". I'd go check them out today but I leave Toronto for awhile. It's crazy, these places are so close yet I never noticed them before! Thanks by the way for sharing your knowledge :)

Maninred... Mi tierra is ok... food not bad but it's pricier and the Menu is lacking a LOT of variety. Service is ok depending when you go. The Establishment is nice.

I still recommend Arrieros on Jane and Annette. Richer menu, dirty cheap, big ass servings. Good taste and very friendly staff.

I know the owners of La Paisa, they are from Manizales. Food is ok, service hmmm... I give it 2/5. Food about 3/5.

where are you living now? we're stuck here in florida for a bit as our youngest daughter, laura juliana is in a private catholic school here...we don't want her studying in colombia, even though it is her birth place. schools are just much better here. too, she wants to go to georgetown univ. in wash. d.c. to study diplomacy. it's like west point for the military. if one wants to advance in the dip. corps they go to georgetown. when she enters university, her oldest brother, 43 yrs old, can look out for her--he lives in washington. then mom and i can go home, por fin. ojolla. i look forward to sitting on the porch in the finca in llano grande like a yogi looks forward to his, ".....40 years, the begging bowl and the road." after a householder has done 40 years of maintaining his house and family, he's allowed to 'drop out' and become a sadhu. oh, for my 40 years..........
if you're in colombia during navidad, and in medallo, don't miss the candle celebration in por venir. there's nothing like it on earth! really. they put candles in paper bags and let them burn all night. it's more than spactacular. there's millions of candles, literally. por venir is on the edge of rio negro, on the road to the airport. best time is 10 days before navidad.

So you shuffle off the mortal coil, jumping into a swimming pool of amniotic chlorine while Octavio y Su Conjunta reminds you "nunca me pongo triste de cualquier güevonada". Freedom 55.

The insurance should have kicked in by the time you decide to make the trip back from the Underworld and guide the Muiscas. I would guess you don't buy this part of the legend. Kind of spoils the effect, a bit of a Disneyesque and shady three-card-monte shuffle to please the kids.

I once met a guy who wanted to die by being struck by lightning. He watched far too much Weather Channel and drove his VW Bus across the badlands, looking to climb trees in the hurricane's eye. Fatimas being what they are, and fickle, I heard he ended up breaking into a power station by midnight. He ended up okay in an ER, my ER, and was not pleased about it.

I must say, Colombiche, that I think you are a damn fascinating woman. I mean that very sincerely. Please let me know if you want to go some time for cachara, chicharrón or chop suey. I'll bet there isn't another Colombiche anywhere, ever, through thirty thousand years.

I doubt I'll see the guy again to ask him about Powder, but you're probably right.

Nope, Dominion is stylin'.

I worked at No Frills, our uniform had a drawing of a bunch of bananas right on the T-shirt.

I was a cashier so I had to spend boring long hours scanning groceries. I used to keep myself entertained by trying to guess where the people in my line were from, what language they spoke etc. I would also try to guess what kind of groceries they had in their cart before hand.

The funnest was when latinos came through my line and started talking about me right in front of my face because they didn't think I looked latina. I once had an ecuadorian lady giving her daughter instructions on how to sneak out the coke cases at the bottom of the cart, she was saying all this right in front of me. When they were about to leave I go: "senora, me hace el favor y me pasa las coca colas que lleva debajo del carrito", she turned pale ha ha ha.

If she hadn't talked about the cases she was hiding I would never had noticed them.

Bet he likes bread." They don't have anything exotic in the No Frills I've seen, but it's probably different in Toronto.

Those crazy ecuadorian ladies! Serves her right. We had a lot of people steal stuff from IGA, try and walk out of there with six pounds of steak beneath the winter coat.

One time he freaked out on me because he said I wouldn't tell him what the tomatoes were saying about him behind his back. I was like "don't worry dude, the tomatoes say really nice things about you when you are not here". He wouldn't believe me, so his face turned blood red and he grabbed my neck with one had and told me when was going to strangle me. The security guard came by and kicked his ass out of the store.
