Notario You can actually hire your Notario to conduct a private ceremony in any place you choose, you can call and set it up with them directly. Of course you pay for that service but it is not much and the benefits are HUGE. It can take place where you are having your reception, if you are having one; it can happen after hours and on a weekend. Very handy. If you have any other questions PM me.

license and cedula You can use your US license, you can get an international license, but I have never bothered, I have bben stopped a few times, and they have never given me any trouble.
You do not need to go out of the country to get the cedula, that info was just 'let's mess with the gringo today'. You do it with the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores in Bogota. If you need more help on that let me know.

Guadua Actually there is already a Japanese company manufacturing floors in Colombia. and it is actually not bamboo here but guadua. they make beautiful materials for floors and it is all for export. A lot of money invested and a lot of $ being made.
