Sweltering in the heat and humidity alongside the Magdalena River in the department of Santander, Barrancabermeja is Colombia's refinery city. While not a tourist destination it makes for an interesting side route to the coast from Bucaramanga and when they have the road finished will be a pivotal high speed connection to Medellin.
Average temperature: 30 degrees Celcius. | Editing history.
San Cristobal (1 comments) Calle 50 No 12-36 Private rooms available.
Less expensive than most and right in the thick of things in downtown Barrancabermeja, staying at the San Cristobal will save you some cash and present you with a clean room. Since most hotels in Barrancabermeja cater to engineers flown into the city on contract jobs and then at the other end of the scale there are those that rent by the hour...the San Cristobal provides a happy medium at around 20,000 per night. Be sure to negotiate. Of course a room with a fan will be cheaper than that with air con.
River Travel from Barrancabermeja: Tired of long bus rides? With the proximity of the Magdalena River, it is possible to make the journey north towards the coast by river.

"3$ a night, nice and clean." I'm not sure if it still exists. Poor but snappy 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
