La Portada Hospedaje, Tierra Dentro, Colombia.

Write a review | Edit hostel details

New 11 room hostel just opened. First floor is fully open, but 2nd floor is still a few months away. There’s a fantastic view of the mountains from all the rooms. The rooms with private baths are spacious with two beds, each with thicker more comfortable mattress than normally found in Colombia. There are 5 rooms with private baths and 6 rooms with shared bath down the hall. The same owner has a restaurant across the street with excellent reasonably priced meals – also the only one that seems open all the time. The hostel is right in the village of San Andres de Pisimbalá only 150 meters from a 400 year old church with a thatched roof. The owners Leonardo and Maria Eva are great and will happily answer any questions you may have about the area. Inquire at the restaurant across the street if there's no one around.

Address: In San Andres de Pisimbalá on the main road from Inza, Tierra Dentro
Email: jkbeam7 at earthlink dot net
Private rooms available.

Best hotel in Tierradentro

By davil on Aug 18, 2009, 16:07.

The good: Nice rooms, good beds, very good food from 7am to 8pm, views, quiet, friendly people
The bad: cold showers, hot ones later in the year

Tierradentro is a fantastic place to get away from the crowds and the tourists. The roads are bad but the trip is worth it. Leonardo, the owner of La Portada is a mine of information. He is a very friendly chap, grows his own coffee, has a few cows and a bit of land to grow vegetables. There are 2 museums to visit first and then walks to see the tombs where guardians will open the gates and have a chat. Do not miss El Aguacate on top of the mountain, there are about 70 tombs but the views are the best! Segovia has the best tombs with decorations. Dogs will follow you around the countryside for the whole day if you let them, they are too bored to stay in the village. Food is excellent at the restaurant, but when Leonardo stands in front of your table it means he wants to go to bed! That's around 8pm!
In the morning you can see colibris flying in front of your room. Life in the village starts at 5.30am and ends at 7pm but it's cool.

Really is a great place. Spotless new room with a shower (OK, cold...) for 15k. Leonardo is lovely and will draw you a map.
Food is absolutely excellent and good value too.
