We received our certificate from Orlando and they list her country of birth as 'Columbia'. They won't correct it unless we both fly down to Orlando and apply again in person for an amended marriage license/certificate etc. (this would cost another $1000 or so since we are in Colorado!)
If I use this certificate with the wrong spelling will it cause a problem in the AOS process? Anyone else go through this scenario or know of anyone who did? Everything else is correct on the certificate - our names date of birth etc.
Thanks for all your ideas.

Neonovo says on Oct 10, 2005, 15:43: non-issue as far as I'm concerned. Columbia is a perfectly acceptable form of spelling, unless you are really retentive.

rjstuff says on Jan 18, 2006, 09:13: You were correct We received the AOS interview (green card) letter a few days ago, so it went through fine with immigration (the Columbia spelling works OK.) I was worried about getting it changed since we got married in Florida and live in Colorado and they require you to get it changed in person! Thanks and best wishes to all of you

rjstuff says on Jan 18, 2006, 17:34: Hey Gator that's interesting And I think I would not have misspelled Colombia (as I knew of it very shortly after I found my fiance (now wife.)) My feeling is that the county clerk's office people changed it - they gave me a copy but took it back when we got married the next day (so I can't be certain but I do not think I would have made this mistake.) Anyhow, I did not have any problems with the homeland security/Immigration people. So, others if caught in the same problem - should not worry about it. Best wishes to all
