Poll: Many In The World Look to Big Change Post Election USA

WASHINGTON -" People around the globe widely expect the next American president to improve the country's policies toward the rest of the world, especially if Barack Obama is elected, yet they retain a persistently poor image of the U.S., according to a poll released Thursday" http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080613/ap_on_el_pr/us_global_poll

The world has changed so much since Bush has been in power that it is no longer as relevant who is elected president of the US.

You can see how much the world has changed from watching Tennis.

Most top Tennis players were Americans not long ago, but today athletes from many more countries are in the top tier, and the majority of top ranking tennis players are no longer from the US.

Not that American athletes are worse today, but many more countries are participating in and competing against the US than before.

On the world stage, too, many more countries are participating and competing effectively against the US....Brazil, Turkey, Russia, and especially many Asian countries like China, India, etc.

We are now living in a non-Western world where the President of the US is no longer relevant.

Vlad,
Probably where you claim you live (Turkmenistan ???) US president (.. called premier, there I believe...) is not as relevant as it used to be. An US presidentatial election matters to EVERY SINGLE person in the globe, wheter you like it or not.

May be 2008 Olympic games are going to be dominated by China or at least they will be close to the US.

Troll? Guess not, but the statement was so ludicrous it had me wondering...
In reality, if Obama wins, it will be the end of prosperity for the US. Kind of sad.

Obama is a poor choice and McCain is a pain.

The United States has trouble and it started long before Bush. Vietnam didn't help.

The United States won world war two. The US produced planes, tanks, guns, uniforms and after the war, cars and steel, radios, television sets, clothing. Now? Very little.

China? Why is China booming? Because AMERICAN CEO's decided to shut our plants and send them first to Taiwan and then Mexico and now China. Cheap labor and you can pollute by avoiding environmental laws here in the US.

Immigration? Since the Reagan amnesty of 87 the government under both CLINTON and two Bushes have done nothing to secure our southern border.

46 years to get the US off of foreign oil (Arab). Both DEMS and REPS have done little.

Blame Bush but the things I mention above started in about 1975. Export jobs and import people. Invest in China, India Mexico etc and here in the USA? How many new nuclear power plants here in America since 1975? None! France? Hundreds. Refineries? None!
Drilling in ANWR or off the coasts? DEM tree huggers will not allow it.

We need a NATIONALIST presiident in the white house and Obama and McCain ain't it! Not a Hitler but NOT a globalist either. The Republicans want to sell the country and the Democrats want to give it away. I heard that saying a few years ago and I agree.

Remember, nothing wrong with a caste system as long as you are at the top! Kind of like most Latin countries.

We could be off foreign oil in a few years if we wanted.

There's more coal reserves in the US than there is oil in the Middle East. And we have our own oil too.

Democrats wage war against heavy industry in the US. Is it any wonder they move abroad?

Don't forget in 1987, McCain was one the cheif architects of Reagan's disasterous 1987 IRCA Amnesty Legislation. After he passed it and legalized 2 million Aliens, he wouldn't fund the enforcement leg of the Legislation. Result, now 12 million illegals. And McCain wanted to pull the same thing in 2007 but thankfully it was defeated. And it will be defeated again in 2009, no matter who is the Prez. Why? Because it was a Bad Bill in 2007 and it will be bad in 2009 as 80% of the Voters are NOT in favor of Amnesty!.
