I don't mind milder cusswords every now and then when used creatively, but in general I think profanity is not just unpleasant it's also unnecessary, Everything that needs to be said can be said without using offensive language. Contrary to what some people seem to think (perhaps because I'm a bit older than the average member here) I'm not especially prudish. It's just that when there's nothing else to discuss than sex and drugs I get very, very bored...

I've not been on PBH long enough to see the long stream of women allegedly scared off by the pretentious pseudo-patriots, putero punters, paranoid politicos or potty philosophers. This site attracts a bizarre mix of people. It remains a great place to get information on Colombia, learn about its people and customs, and reflect upon how wide is the spectrum of humanity.

Many women with an interest in Colombia are already used to dealing with all of the above groups. Morphus is right, these women just have better things to do. I doubt most of them look back in anger or are overly sensitive or have much use for paternalistic coddling.
