Woman kidnapped and killed to get money off her Internet American BF

I don't get it..... I would think that these women would at least make an effort to better themselves, and I don't mean cosmetically..... If she was living in a lower strata, in my head it would make sense to move to a better barrio, no?... Or go back to school? Or set aside some money for her son?

I just get disappointed at how women can continue to be so naive and not try to make the best of an opportunity....

If it makes you guys feel better, same thing happens to Colombian men that go off to Spain... They leave their sweethearts in Colombia and they send them money all the time.... Always something....

Mr. Hollywood says on Nov 28, 2007, 09:08:

Wow, that's sad.

I said it somewhere else that I think it's almost impossible for a relationship to work when it straddles such a huge economic divide. There's just too much of a power differential, for one, and then there are situations like this.

I'm sure there are a lot of people in this poor victim's barrio who think she was "asking for it" by being to uppity with her newfound money she was getting from the gringo.

0 funny, 0 helpful.

msaucey says on Nov 28, 2007, 09:23:

Morph... Come on... Sometimes looks only go so far.... I mean if this guy was sending her enough money, she could have gotten herself into a better position economically, investing the money, and then gotten the cosmetic uplift she needed...

I know, I'm being silly thinking these things rationally... My bad!

I think you guys are making too much of the gringo angle from this incident.

If my Spanish reading is correct, it appears it's very likely the victim was ALREADY DEAD when the phone calls were made demanding a ransom. Also, it looks like the whole thing was likely setup by an ex-lover of hers, the 41-year old Agudelo Sanchez. To me, it sounds like the whole blackmail-gringo angle was just to try to mislead the family and authorities. The money was probably secondary.

And the way she was killed, rape & asphyxiation, sounds to me like she was a part-time prepaga who pissed off (or ripped off) the wrong ex-novio or current novio.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying she deserved to die. Just that my gut tells me she was no angel, and the money she was pulling from the gringo was just one of various scams she was working at the same time.

I do agree that it's completely idiotic to send money afar to anyone besides immediate family although there are some pathetic loners/losers out there with money to burn, and doing this makes them feel good or gives some kind of meaning to their lives.

However, I think it's a stretch to connect that with the * at !&#* up way this lady died. Sounds to me they had it in for her right from the get go.

Dang, I missed the picture.....

In our barrio we have a neighborhood dog... He was born and lives on our streets... His name is "Socio"... He is cool... Everybody in the neighborhood feeds him and takes care of him... He doesn't ever go inside the house, and if you have left overs, you just have to open the door and call "Socio", he'll come and he'll eat the left overs... If he sees any type of stranger or bumb, he starts barking at them and then everybody comes out to see, so the stranger or bumb just leaves...

Why do I suspect Colombiche is the type of person who would dress up their dog in booties and bandanas, or a la MC Hammer?

I think he does it to be a 'tough guy" look a this stare in the first pic, but he is really not, he nearly knocks all my guest over cause he jumps on them when he greets them.

This is my friend's dog in Brazil.

That cushion in the photo is his "girlfriend". Every few minutes he trots over to the cushion, folds it double and starts humping it.

Doggy style

I like the Fruco Dog too.

ok. let me just say this, not every gringo is loaded... ok??? a lot of them are middle class and already have a hard time paying their bills. My boyfriend is gringo and if they kidnapped me to get money out of him, i'd be screwed cause he doesn't carry U$10,000.oo around like most people think gringos do. and so you know, gringos don't shit money either

I hear ya! I'd be screwed if it weren't for OSAP. My family told me many times if i when i went to Colombia (actually the first time I told them I was like... guess where I am???, they were not amused jejejejeje) they told me that if i got kidnapped, tough luck, they would have no ransom money, and i'd be on my own.

Jack Russells? Worst dogs on the planet next to Dalmatians. The best dogs, Australian Cattle Dogs, also known as heelers. Mad Max's dog was a heeler. Unfortunately my blue heeler, Shorty, died about a year ago.

Agree with you. My son has two and I can't stay in the same room with them. My neice gave one to my mother and within two weeks she called and demanded she return the dog!
