Am just moving to Bogota and wondering who do I call to hook up wireless internet in my apartment? Any recommendations/warnings? How much should I expect to pay a month?

mail@bjorndeboeck.com says on Jul 25, 2007, 04:39: No such luck I'm afraid. you can get broadband (600kbs) with ETB for 120'000 (with phone) or by cable (500kbs) with tv for 100'000. I am pretty happy with ETB these days. If you're living in the Macarena, I'm sending out a pretty strong wireless signal from my apartment so let me know and I can hook you up.

webmanco says on Jul 25, 2007, 09:11: Durito is right, you just need a wireless router, for me the best wifi routers for home or small business are Netgear or Linksys. As usual make sure the ISP (Internet service provider) hook you up with an ethernet router and not an usb router. But, I'm going to start making some assumptions here.... Which means I might actually end up making an ass out of myself ..........Thu 04 17, 2008 11:34 am |

Robert Jorge says on Jul 25, 2007, 09:50: I am totally stupid when it comes to computers, and I successfully set up a wireless network in my house. I would just buy a Links router from Best Buy, and take it with you to Colombia. You just hook the Internet connection to the router, install the software (insert disk), and follow the instructions. You can buy great routers now-a-days at even Walmart. --"I believe in making the world safe for our children. Robert Jorge says on Jul 25, 2007, 09:55: I had banda ancha in Villavicencio when I lived there. An Ethernet connection was what they used. It was with Telecom (if I remember correctly). The biggest challenge I found was getting somebody, ANYBODY, to show up to actually install the Internet service. One time a team from Avantel showed up to hook me up. They were 3 hours late. Then, they said they couldn't install the connection, because it was raining. --"I believe in making the world safe for our children.
