I think the HOTEL DEL PRADO is the best and most beautiful hotel in BQA... the pool area is maybe the best I have seen in a while....it's an old hotel and very well maintained.... about 175,000 per night for a suite.....

It was own by a local cartel but now the colombian gov took it over. is got that classic tropical city look with stunning tall palm trees.
sometimes you feel like you're in fokin havana in the 50's and 60's all wearing guayaberas then fidel and che show up both smoking big ass cigar as batista runs out the back door.

Yeah, el Windsor is on the 84 and 46. El prado is now being run by the Dann chain........it´s a nice hotel but its age is really begining to show now, could do with a lot of renovation.

That "age" has been showing for years. More hype than substance there. I bought into the hype too, never again. They need to really renovate that place and get it into the 21st century. Elmo's right, it's like a 50s style Cuba resort now.

It might have been "the best and most beautiful hotel in BAQ" many moons ago. But it's long been surpassed by the likes of the Dann BAQ, Barranquilla Plaza, Puerto del Sol, American Golf, and the Windsor. Having stayed at both El Prado and American Golf, even the American Golf is a better hotel.

Actually, my local friends were recently quoted something like COP250.000 - 350.000/nite at the Windsor. Excluding business purposes or a honeymoon, there's really no reason to pay anything like that in BAQ. Unless you like the target on your head.

Having a drink at the pool at Hotel El Prado is a fun way to spend an afternoon, especially during los carnavales, but no way I would stay there. Like toneloc24 already said, there are better places to stay at better prices.

Windsor can be inexpensive. Make sure someone who speaks fluent Spanish books a room for you. I stayed for 10 days over New Years 2008 and paid only COP112,300/nite including breakfast and all taxes. I ran into some Americans staying at the same time who paid much more. I have stayed at the Dann BAQ, American Golf, and El Prado and like the service and rooms better at the Windsor plus the rates are cheaper. I recommend staying in an inner room as the external rooms with balconies can be noisy at nite.
