Will Most Places Be Closed in Colombia July 6, 7, & 8

I am planning to be in Colombia July 4 - 9 but was told most public places - bars & restaurants will be closed July 6, 7,& 8? Is this corect? Will places be opened in tourist areas like Cartagena? Any help as I had no idea about this until 3 minutes ago.

In Cali the city I will be going to for most of my trip, there will be an Election and they close the bars and prevent the sale of liquor for Friday, Saturday and Sunday - July 6 - 8. I have confirmed this with several people including an owner of a bar, and managers of 2 hotels in Cali.

This is true in Cali, don't know about the rest of Colombia

We will be having a party that weekend and will have liquor in our bar. As we have a private residence and are holding a private party we will not be affected.

Anyone interested in coming needs to email me mr_srule at hotmail.com or call 57 317 307 8011 as it is stricty invite only.

The no liquor for election days cracks me up. Every mom and pop tienda in Villavo would be happy to sell you some Aguilas, a bottle of Llanero Aguardiente, or Ron Caldas. It seems to only effect the big bars, restaurants, and chain grocery stores.

BEWARE of gold diggers.
