I am planning to be in Colombia July 4 - 9 but was told most public places - bars & restaurants will be closed July 6, 7,& 8? Is this corect? Will places be opened in tourist areas like Cartagena? Any help as I had no idea about this until 3 minutes ago.

EMAN says on Jun 28, 2007, 08:33: In Cali the city I will be going to for most of my trip, there will be an Election and they close the bars and prevent the sale of liquor for Friday, Saturday and Sunday - July 6 - 8. I have confirmed this with several people including an owner of a bar, and managers of 2 hotels in Cali.

Robert Jorge says on Jun 28, 2007, 20:54: The no liquor for election days cracks me up. Every mom and pop tienda in Villavo would be happy to sell you some Aguilas, a bottle of Llanero Aguardiente, or Ron Caldas. It seems to only effect the big bars, restaurants, and chain grocery stores. BEWARE of gold diggers. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
