WHY NOT IN BOGOTÁ or any other Colombian city?

If it´s happening in Buenos Aires, why not the same in any Colombian city??

It is Look around a bit. Bogota Beer Company for example. Plenty of other foreign-owned business trying to make it work.

bogota is years behind BsAs I spent months looking for business opportunities in Colombia before deciding it just wasn't ready yet, so I headed for BsAs. I love Colombia and the people there, far better than here, but business wise BsAs is the place, hands down. Security for one, but more due to huge number of tourists in BsAs that spend real money. Just doesn't exist (yet) in colombia.

hoping things will improve there in a few years and I'll jump on that bandwagon, happily.

BTW, good article, thanks for posting it.

My wife and I arrived at BsAs just as the banks closed down, everything was cheap as hell. We thought it would be a great place to start something, just couldn't at the time (kicking self in ass now).

BOGOTÁ is the NEXT BEST THING! So now we know BsAs is happening, and that Bogotá is waiting to be transformed. The TIME is NOW to start a business in Bogotá. PIONEERS and TRENDSETTERS always get handomely rewarded later in terms of prestige and profit. BOGOTÁ and COLOMBIA in general ARE THE NEXT BEST THING....The average world citizen just doesn´t know it...

colombuenazo, I'd like to agrree, really I do. bogota doesn't domuch for me and I really don't see the possibilities, especially compared to BsAs. Haven't been to Medellin yet, going soon, but from what I have heard it is way better and booming moreso than Bogotá.

Quality of life is an issue I like Bogota but I've got to agree that quality of life is an issue that's going to hold it back. Buenos Aires will always be more cosmopolitan and happening than Bogota just because of the geography of the place. It's got better climate, better surroundings, better infrastructure, etc. It's kinda like comparing NYC to Portland Oregon.

That said, if one thinks Bogota is the greatest place on earth, then by all means start creating new businesses there.

Exactly Mr H Cosmopolitan describes BsAs very well, but Bogota just isn't there, unfortunately. I was getting very bored in bogota after 3 months. I'm afraid i thought much less of Medellin, but was only there a short time. Loved villa de lleya, bucaramanga and even cartegena, for a short time anyway.

I have spent months exploring BsAs and feel i have only scratched the surface. And it is safe to go to MOST of BsAs, unlike bog, maybe that's a big part of the problem. I was too chicken to explore much outside of the usual tourist areas on my own.

But colomBuenazo is right too, if you want to buy something cheap, you need to be ahead of the crowd. I just didn't see much that looked cheap in Bog either? I mean the real estate in the top areas was easily as expensive as back home (Canada).

Everwhere i looked in bog I saw huge discos, bars and restaurants that must have cost a fortune to build, and they were often totally empty, unless they were the newest hot spot. I could only imagine some funny money was being cleaned in those places. Who wants to try to compete with that?

Now what might be a great idea eventually is to get in the adventure or eco tourism business, rafting, climbing, gliding all that stuff. Colombia really is a jewel that way...but I wouldn't know how or where to begin in those businesses. I think the best areas still aren't safe enough? I could be wrong though...

Hope the overly sensitive col defenders don't take offense, I love Colombia, i really do, just wish i could see a way to make it work. It WILL happen, hopefully sooner than I think.

I must say I had some of the most interesting experiences in my life in Colombia, met some fascinating and wonderful people, and that is not at all the case here in BsAs (although the smaller towns seem to be more like colombia that way). Looking forward to getting back to bog...for a visit.

Hey podborski,
Any similar Hey podborski,
Any similar sites like this one but with BsAs? Lately my wife and I have been thinking of moving there. We lived in Montevideo and visited a lot. Very similar places (but don't tell the argentinians that). We also lived in Barcelona and loved it, which is very similar to Buenos Aires (but don't, DON'T tell the BCN's that!).

not sure bufalo I imagine there are sites like this, but haven't looked for one really. Doesn't seem quite as necessary to research BsAs as much as colombia ya know?

Of course, ripping off extranjeros is a national sport, so I can point you towards some reliable real estate people, lawyers etc., if you need. I bought property here so I know all the ins and outs as well. There lots of things to watch out for...

But I am starting to really know my way around here, so happy to help you with any questions.

Funny, I was going to visit Montevideo this holiday weekend, just to check it out.

Yeah, the argentines sure do deserve their reputations for being stuck up haha! They openly admit it. But i think you can make some great friends here, it just takes more time.

The other night I was in a trendy bar chatting by accident to an attractive girl who in Colombia would have dragged me home forcibly, but this girl was downright rude. I miss colombia!
