Finarina,
Contact Lucas Freley or Porteña. Send them a PM and I'm pretty sure they will able to help you with your questions.

argentinian knows absolutly everithinks in this world...you will see just talking to the taxi driver in the airport,

Pistarini airport is far from the city centre, get a minivan! there is a little office outside the airport main entrance which sell tickets almost like taxis in bogota' airport...local bus can take 1,5 hours

Colombia, the only risk is wanting to stay

I have been to Argentina a few times, Podborski is an expert on tourist Buenos Aires... Lucas Freley more so -- but I haven't seen him around here lately.

Anything specific you want to know?

Tips?

1. Buenos Aires is (probably) a little safer than most Colombian cities, but the same precautions apply... keep the tarjetas at home unless you need them, no big wallet in the back pocket, don't wear flashy jewellery or carry expensive cameras. Wearing fancy clothing is okay, though. Argentines often dress formally and with style, and if you dress well you will be treated better.

2. Bring your appetite. Good steak and ice cream is everywhere. Vegetarian and light dishes -- not so much. Even food court steak at Las Brasitas is better than most fancy restaurant steak elsewhere.

3. Consider buying formal clothing or leather goods during your visit. Argentina is generally cheaper than Colombia.

4. Most Argentines are very proud. I would not make jokes about Argentina, Maradonna or tango, and would not be the first person to bring up local politics or the Malvinas (Falklands), though Argentines discuss all of these things with passion.

5. Buenos Aires does not have beaches. If the weather is warm, you might consider going to Punta del Este in Uruguay for a day trip on the Buquebus ferry, which leaves near Puerto Madero. Montevideo is also worth seeing.

6. Wine in Argentina is cheap and good. Bring some back. Liquor in Argentina is ridiculously cheap.

7. Taxis in Argentina are cheap. I think they are safer than Bogota. I would call a taxi if carrying valuables (malls routinely have this service), going to the suburbs or airport.

8. Argentine women can be fun, but Buenos Aires is not Bogota. Argentine men have a reputation for being stylish and suave, but of course this is lost on me.

9. Flights within Argentina are expensive. If you are there for longer than a week, invest in a travel book and get out of Buenos Aires.

Finaria,

I'm moving to Medellin or Buenos Aires shortly and asked a similar question: Check out this link:

My perception from speaking to people here and on other forums is that overall they prefer Colombia.

Let me know how you get on in BA!

Suerte.

BA has many good points. Colombians can be more social and less rigid than Argentines.
