Why did they change the movies title "Super Bad" to "Super Cool"

I know this is a stupid thread but what ever alot of threats here are stupid so question the movie "super bad" here is "super cool" which has a totally different meaning why couldn't they call it "super mal" or "super malo"?

Because "bad" in the context of this movie, the people, and the time period meant "cool". It still does in certain circles. In other words, back in the eighties people would say "That's bad!", and they meant "That's cool". Back then "bad" was used in this way like "rad", "phat", "dope", and all the other slang words for "cool".

They always screw up the titles. I can undertand why they changed the title of Superbad - if they translated it literally, it wouldn't have the same meaning. Many times, however, they COULD translate the title literally and it would retain its meaning but instead they give it some other goofy title. Same with the subtitles - I think they get lazy and just cop out half the time on the translations. Even my wife is starting to notice how bad the subtitles are.

as much as I love developing relationships with new friends in Colombia, this type of thing really does present a problem. not having that shared language background, that thing we all take so much for granted.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

Hehehe funny you ask, I was talking to my partner about this the other day, and we just remembered how many times when we're watching a show, and can't help to read the subtitles, we find ourselves reading no when someone has said yes, or the other way around... That's not an easy one to mess up.
