Who thinks Edgar Renteria can make the Hall of Fame

He´ll be 32 on August 7. He´s got the championships, the all-star games and if he can stay healthy and play until he´s about 39, he could pull a 3000 hit career as he has 1900 hits now. He has a .291 lifetime batting average. If he can pull it up to .300 lifetime and he gets to 3000 hits, I believe he´s in.

We´ll talk about Cabrerra´s chances in a few more years.

Even though he carried two different teams to the WS on his back ;) I don't think he'll make it either. There are too many good SSs in his era which he will be compared to and one of the the criteria voters look at is if the player dominated at his position.

Well, I think he does have a pretty good chance at making the Colombian Baseball Hall of Fame.

He is having a great year and didn't even make the all star game. too many good shortstops, but I think if he continues to play as well as this year, for the next 5, he likely has a chance

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

Yes, he does remember his roots and takes care of his peeps and that makes him a HOFr in my book.

lucho, in baseball, affirmative action would only work the other way.
If going by pure talent it would be only latinos and blacks in the hall of fame.
a guy like babe ruth 'the bambino" could not hit a 100 mph baseball in his wildest dream.
He was getting pitches coming at him at 70mph the most, chit! like that i could hit 1000 freaking home runs.

Remember most of the guys in the hall of fame were competing against "monster" of the era like Yogi fokin Berra, Phil Razzuto, Joe fokin Garagiolla, Whitey Ford etc. Them there guys were all talentless midgets.

If he makes it to 3000 hits, he'll be a lock for the HOF.

Having been a 5x All-Star (so far), highly-contributing member of 2 WS champions, runner-up in Rookie of the Year voting in 1996, honorable mention as NL MVP 2x, plus the 3,000 hits, he'll make it the HOF. It might not be on the 1st try, but he'll make it.

He'll end up with better stats than Craig Biggio, who some consider a lock for the HOF even though he's been shaky in the field.

Not true. He was a member of the winning Marlins and a member of the losing Cardinals in the World Series.

You're right, Migs. I realized that after I submitted it. No edits allowed here yet.

Nonetheless, wouldn't it be something if a costeño was the first Colombian admitted to the baseball HOF?

Wanna read a funny story? Here's a story about Luis Castro, allegedly a Colombian who some believe was really the 1st Latino ballplayer in modern-day baseball. Check out Orlando Cabrera's comments.
