I learned that ... ...very few native Bogotano's wear white athletic shoes. If you do you will certainly stand out in that city as a gringo.

When we take shoes to our nephews we are careful to make them fit in with their peer group. Of course the would be glad to get any color but prefer black, red or blue.

Shorts in Bogota Shorts are definitely a strange site in Bogota. Last September, I was at a hotel on Avenida 100. I needed to run to the Olimpica down the street to buy something in a big hurry. So I threw on some shorts and a t-shirt and ran down to the store looking like a tourist ass during the middle of a weekday.

This is very much a business district and all the men were walking around in suits. Needless to say, I got a million weird looks and one numbnut even wolf whistled at me. The ladies in the store surely thought I was crazy. I got a laugh out of the whole thing and quickly ran back to the hotel. The point is... Don't wear shorts in Bogota.

Peace.

i agree desi.... there are a lot of sick modefoques on this board. I have to be very careful or I will be corrupted.

arthur brode says on May 3, 2007, 11:22:

is this the message iam interpreting here? that as the "superior" gringo you can dress however you please? as far as iam concerned the Colombian street man is more respectable.

i dont get why colombia is so focused more on what the person dresses like than who you are? I dress great i think...but i could care less what people think.

Who's that blonde schmuck in the picture?

HERE'S SIMON!!!!

scotty says on May 3, 2007, 13:26:

short shorts only wear shoets to the swimming pool or the beach in Colombia, anyone who has been in Colombia for more than 15 minutes knows that. as for the old dude doing the karaoke thing, he needs to clean up his act.

arthur brode says on May 3, 2007, 17:17:

. Dressing inapropriate is disrespectful and it reflects a dont give a shit attitude.Thats why so many Colombians complain about the way some gringos dress.

"I am here" Question:"Who's that blonde schmuck in the picture?"-Simon
Answer:

The blonde schmuck is the same as the guy he is sitting next to in both photos - a poor bastard who can't get laid in his own country. Except one is a tourist who can afford a plane ticket and prepagos.

Miguel_Clavo says on May 3, 2007, 20:47:

Seems that in all the photos there is alot of alcohol involved, as it is obvious the girls have to get shitfaced as well.....if they have ran out of bags...jajajaja....

Just my opinion...

That's classic, Rocinante. They could rename PBH to Gringo Losers and the Women Who Love Them but then that's not quite right. No Colombiana in her right mind would love them, just put up with them until she gets her ticket stamped.

scotty says on May 4, 2007, 01:06:

well maybe I dont know maybe the blonde dude is a smuck but he does seem to have his hands full of a cute Colombiana. several people on here have called him a typical gringo loser. let me tell you there are some gringo losers that go to Colombia but i can tell you from experience there are also alot of loser Colombianos, i have seen them on the streets of Colombia.
I recall meeting a Colombiano in Cali that was something like 47 years old and the guy has never been anywhere outside his city. he has experienced nothing, he has a ho hum job, owns nothing, does nothing, has created nothing, and probably never will. So i guess it all really depends on what a persons discription of a loser is.
