Hello, what steps should i take to bringing my children and i to colombia to work and live there? would i have to apply for visas for my children? We already have passports. I am planning on teaching english there and staying with a friend while she helps me with the children. i would like to live there for two years at least. Thank you.

Gator says on Nov 4, 2007, 18:11: First stop-the Colombian Consulate. Yes, you would need visa and permission of both parents for the children if the are under 18 "Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Gator says on Nov 5, 2007, 06:27: Oddly enough it's called a Work Visa (Visa Temporal de Trabajador or TT) Do you have the necessary certification to teach English? Again, what about thew childrens'natural father? "Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

BAQ says on Nov 5, 2007, 09:26: Get ready for LOTS of paperwork and LOTS of money for documents. THE FIRST VISA is the worst, thats what requires all the docs from the USA and translated ect. Everything needs to be translated to spanish if its in english, and has to have an Appostile, just notorized wont be accepted. PLUS the documents need to be FRESH, so plan around the time needed to get everything. Semper Fidelis ! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

raquel23 says on Nov 8, 2007, 20:30: thanks gator and baq. I dont have certification yet. I dont plan on moving untill maybe 1 or 1 1/2 yrs, so i guess that gives me eneough time to plan and do everything. also, the kids father is not involved AT ALL. for nothing, has never even seen him. i dont think there will be a problem there. thanks for the info. Gator says on Nov 8, 2007, 21:15: Makes no difference at all-he IS involved in this. With out his permission the kid can NOT travel. If he will not provide it than a court of competent jurisdiction must issue a court order. "Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
