Gator says on Mar 13, 2008, 20:01: You would apply for the same type of visa(strange but true) as for you. You may request the same visa for your son, provided he is financially dependant on you. I assume you will have a visa before entering Colombia and will NOT be entering on your passports as tourists. I would also have a certified copy of a birth certificate issued by a city, county or state and which has a raised seal; If you have have legal custody of the child, carry the original or a court-certified copy of the court order granting you full custody or guardianship of the child. Get certified copies of all school records, medical records,. etc. etc. and bring them with you. If you later find a job you will have to apply7 for the work visa at MRE in north Bogotá "Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

raquel23 says on Mar 14, 2008, 10:33: Hi Gator, so what you are saying is definitely get the tourist visa before entering into Colombia. I will do that then and also get this paper filled out, if possible. The thing is, its a bit of a sticky situation. The father and i never talk. Basically, he has never seen is child since he was born and he is almost 5 now. Probably the best thing i could do like you said, is get the paper filled out showing i have full custody and rights over him, if i cannot get the father to fill out this form. How long does it take to get approved for a tourist visa? Raquel 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Gator says on Mar 14, 2008, 20:22: Why a tourist visa? If you don't have an issued visa from the Colombian Consulate then enter on the US Passport then adjust status with MRE when and if you get the position.
