Where to stay in Capurgana . . .

I'm thinking about making a jaunt to Capurgana (from Medellin) in late October. What's the weather going to be like? And, more importantly, anybody have some good tips on places to stay?

Thanks in advance!

It's rainforest and beach, so it's hot. It might be rain season (not sure), then you'll have lotsa mosquitos.

There are nice hotels there and some family hostels I believe.

We stayed at Tacarcuna Lodge in August, and it was really good, I recommend it. Other high end hotels are Alcazar, Almar and Calypso. There is plenty of smaller hotels/hostels/cabañas all over the place, as well as in Sapzurro and Acandí. I should probably write a trip report, I'll see if I can find time this weekend. But in short, Capurganá is worth it. No idea about the weather in October though.

Yeah, it's the rain I was thinking about - - and when the rainy season starts. I'm looking for something nice but not luxurious.

You won't find anything luxurious in Capurganá, after all it's a really small town (2000 locals) tucked in between rainforest and sea. Only Alcazar looked a little more like your usual resort type place, almost everything else is cabaña like accomodation, including Tacarcuna. There are no cars or motorcycles (we saw one tractor though) and no road connecting Capurganá to any other town. It's all very basic, and that's what makes it great.
