Go to Inirida by plane on Satena to see the 'Cerros de Mavecure' one of Colombia's natural wonders...If this is too far Puerto Lopez and Altos de Menegua (if you haven't done already). Yopal good too or you can go wildlife spotting in the Palmarito Reserve (kind of near Yopal) or El Tinje Lagoon reserve in Mani (50km south-east of Aguazul).

If guerilla weren't an issue I'd say go to San Juan de Arama and the river of five colurs 'Caño cristales', but I'd stay away for now if I was you :-) Fun Travels :-)

puerto lopez i will suggest only el alto de menegua cuz in the town there is not much to see or do,
or you can go to San Martin de los LLanos but again this will be like a day trip only because there is not much to do there either.

pretty town, Tauramena 1 hour from Yopal but really if is a weekend you are looking for then you need a town with lots of attraction to see and things to do.

Tauramena is pretty nice and the Tinje Lagoon is not that far from there (west following the Cusiana river).

But if you have the money get a flight from Villavicencio to Inirida to see this...

Yopal is nice. Lots of bars and a nice main square. You can visit aquatoca for swimming in the river or walk up to the huge virgin statue on the hill.

I wanted to go to 'Caño cristales' but Christmas is not the best time to go, they say it is better in the rainy season so you can see the river of 5 colors much better, Maybe in the Future.

I think someone is doing some tours to get there but they are limited, i know a friend of my mum does it, the best way to get there is by plane , from Villavo to La Macarena and from there you will trek there. Satena will flight to La Macarena.
