Have the same problem in Medellin.. I just buy a shit load of Patron in Miami before I come down at Duty Free they have good prices anyways...If you do find will be expensive except for Jose Cuervo which is cheap..

JC Gold is 50K mil pesos in Cartago. At that price I drink rum and that's overpriced too.

Even in Parque Lleras, Medallo, you can buy a bottle of Jose gold for 38K at the bar and get all the glasses, lemon, salt and friendly conversation you want. I was thinking Cartagena would not be that expensive than realized Cartago is not the same deal...

You can't get top shelf tequila at around Andino? The owner of the Museo del Tequila in the Zona Rosa is a very friendly guy. Eat his Mexican food and ask for his advice?

sorry to disagree but José Cuervo es la cosa más asquerosa en Tequila....

Try and ask in El Museo del Tequila for Centenario Plata.... you'll love it!!!!

Maybe ill ask the owner of Museo del Tequila, but I have to say when I ate there I was hoping for a little better of selection. I was very impressed with the al pastor.

Patron Silver Straight up NO Salt nor Lime...and Warm I always make sure I have four bottles from MIA Duty Free..Duty free has it for 27.50 each as long as you buy two or more..Otherwise its Rum all the way..end of this week I think I am going on a mission to find a place..for Patron or Don Julio Agava..

God Damn Six Pack of Corona at Carrefour is 18K plus 16%....Thats insane...When I can get a 24 Pack of Brava is 23K...has to be the 24 Box...cannot be seperate..which has the twist offs..

Thats one thing I been looking for in Medellin, some good Tequila like Patron or Cabo Wabo... all you see is Cuervo which ofcourse I don't mind but it wouldn't hurt to have some really good stuff.

I had the tacos de pastor and it was up to par with the dirty little taco stands i've come to love in the states (and sometimes the mainland too)

Centenario plata is a good one. my favorites are Don Fulano plata, Reserva del Senor reposado and Don Fernando anejo. If i could find Don Fernando i'd be real happy. but i will prob just end up drinking aguardiente.

There's a liquor store with a pretty good selection of foreign liquors on the corner of Cra. 15 and Calle 85, directly across the street from Carulla.

Gabo, I have never had a problem with any amount of liqour that I brought into El Dorado / Bogota. As a matter of fact, I brought in about 7 bottles last time, including a 1.75 litre of Jim Beam. I declared everything, but I was never given a second glance. I think they could care less. But even if they do anything, I suppose the worst case scenario is that they apply a tax or something. I have never been given the official rule ... and there might not be one.

gabolicious says on Sep 11, 2007, 11:35:

RUV, surely you will find it there... ask them to go to any supermarket and they surely will find it... Centenario is one of the most popular tequilas, there is also Centenario reposado but the one I like is Plata, it is softer...

by the way on sep 15 is the Independence day in Mexico, so ask your relatives or friends to be aware of the discounts that have most of the supermarkets there.... yo estoy llenando mi cava de delicioso tequila!!! hahahahahaha

Thanks Gab.

I go down there every two months or so. The border crossing is horribe, so I avoid holidays. I will let my relatives know. Actually they recently had a tequilla festival about a month back in Tijuana. I will be in Medellin if you guys need a bottle. If you interested PM me. Not promising anything. My ETA is sometime in November.

Thanks again
