Next time I go, I might want to give it a whirl, I know you dont go to Colombia for SUSHI but in case I get sick of the arroz con pollo and the bandejas and sancochos.. Is it good compared to Lima, Miami, LA, NYC? or whats your take? How are the prices? Cheers and TIA

Paisa/Calena/Luver says on Jun 5, 2009, 15:42: Yeah , Mako,,, anytime you start mixing cultures food like Chinese/Japanese or Thai/Chinese etc etc,, I find this seems to "cheapen the quality of the food to a rather large extent of one or the other and any normal sushi conaceer will know you just cant mess around with sushi.... Just my opinion.. thanks for the link.. "PAY ATTENTION! cstew47 says on Jun 6, 2009, 04:03: In my experience, Japanese and other ethnic restaurants have not succeded in Medellin. The Paisas do not have a desire to try different foods. there have been a couple of semi-decent Japanese restaurants, such as Sakurana and Otori, but, they failed, Sushi light, as mentioned above, is not bad. I know of two locations at El Tesoro and La Strada and have tried both. Chinese, Italian and Mexican are almost impossible to find and never good. You need to go to Bogota or Cali.

bickerss says on Jun 6, 2009, 04:52: Try the restaurant above portafino casino - same company as the one in Tesoro. Tuesday night is 2 for 1 - you need to go up 2 sets of escalators. There is a line after aroudn 8 normally. Also; there is one down past Park Poblado as you head down to Patio Bonito - sposed to be good although I have not personally eaten there yet. Investment Strategy - buying when others are crying!! Offloading when others are gloating!!! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

capt_j says on Jun 6, 2009, 11:29: Sushi can be a crapshoot anywhere. I went to a place in my neighborhood and it was decent. I went there again recently and they gave me some big pieces of fish, but from the taste of it it was old and they were trying to get rid of it. This is a five minute walk from where dozens of fishing boats are docked so proximity to the ocean is no guarantee. I will go someplace else next time, there are no shortage of sushi places here.

manINred says on Jun 9, 2009, 14:52: Sushi to Go is great. The guys who prepare it know what they're doing, and they are very creative. I'm no expert either, but before going to that place, I didn't care for sushi. Now I like it, and have not really had sushi that was quite like it since.
