Where can I take my Colombiana here in the Los Angeles to have a good time.

Well, I am really new to the Los Angeles area and my wife is coming out from Cali to visit me for the week and I was wondering if anyone knew of any place to go slow dancing and also if she would enjoy Disneyland or Universal studios or Magic Mountain or Knottsberryfarm? If anybody has any ideas on what would be nice, please inform me because I am really new to this area and I am clueless on what to do here. Also, she thinks that ChippeChappe mall is the greatest thing since sliced bread so is there a mall here that will blow her socks off? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Disneyland If she has never been to Disneyland or Disneyworld, I would definitely suggest Disneyland. I have a Colombian friend who married an American and she absolutely loves Disneyland. She says that you don't see anything like that in Colombia. At this time of year it shouldn't be too crowded, except if you wait for Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Have fun! Take lots of pictures.

check these, any specialized ideas? PM me for more. I would say hearts castle its half way between LA and San Francisco.

Also La Jolla in San Diego is a good place. Hotel del Coronado is the best in the area. Palm Springs is also a suggestion. In the immediate area

Malibu I think is the closest attraction and one of the most spectacular.

Santa Catalina Island is another suggestion.

In the city itself Olvera street would work.

Sunset strip & Hollywood of course. I would shy away from disneyland it isn't anything special. If your on a low budjet most of the well located taqueria's are good places to grab lunch.

by the way What is the contact info for where you stayed at by Lake Calima? Also what was the price?

dude, if she thinks chipichape is the bomb! YOU GOTTA take her to South Coast Plaza in near john wayne airport! She´ll think she died and gone to heaven! It´s probably the largest mall in southern cal. I would also take her to pasadena during the day.

Some ideas Mariasman,

First I would try to set a time for Disneyland. It's probably the most well known theme park in the World. It would be a shame for your Colombiana to travel all the way to Southern California and not see it.

The malls I would suggest are: South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Beverly Center in Beverly Hills, and Fashion Island in Newport Beach.
South Coast Plaza is always a big tourist spot. Many shops.

San Diego is also a nice place to spend some time. And you can always go to the zoo and Sea World there.

PM Me for more things. Depending on what your wife's interests are, there are probably more things to do. Like Knowledge mentioned, Hearst Castle, Catalina Island, Olivera Street are nice places.
If you both like wine, you can drive to Napa and experience all the wine tasting there.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Santa Monica Pier, Rodeo Drive, Fashion Alley, & Santa Barbara If you are in the LA area, I would take her to Santa Monica Pier on a Saturday afternoon. They have a few amusement rides there as well as some nice restaurants and stores nearby. Plus it has the notoriety of having been used for quite a few movies. Rodeo Drive in Beverley Hills is a nice spot to go if you have cash burning a hole in your pocket and there are also some nice and somewhat affordable restaurants in that area. Fashion Alley is in downtown LA and has some of the best and latest fashion out at 1/2 the price, if she likes to shop and buy clothes she will love this place. Santa Barbara will only be a 1.5 hour drive from LA and has nice little shops along the street and could also be a nice weekend getaway.

Oh and for more bargain shopping, take her to the outlet malls in Camarillo (just before Ventura) lots of great barbains to be found there.

Universal Studio Mall / Center is always a nice place to visit, seems like there is always something happening around there.

Also go to the Getty Museum up off of the 101 (North of town) very beautiful and memorable.

Disney World is a must see for her though, nothing even close to it in Colombia.

Hope that helps

Carl

I haven't seen a word in any of the responses about where to go dance? There must be plenty of good Latin places?

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Dancing in LA You have to define it a bit more, like what area you're likely to go to and what kind of dancing - Salsa, Merengue, Ballroom - what?. In LA there's just about everything.

It also depends on the day of the week. So you'll have to be more specific.

There are plenty of Latin dance places here, too mnay to list unless you are more specific as to what you're looking for.
