yo rocky... sorry i can't help you in your quest. it's just that your inquiry brought back memories of the 'helmet' issue in the late '80's and early '90's.

i was living in medellin at the time and, believe me, mehem was the rule of the day and violence was as common as going to the john.

motorcycle helmets were illegal because sicarios (assassins) could hide their identity. imagine? odd, but true.

too, yelling, in traffic, 'f**k you' would get you killed, the same as giving another driver the 'bird'. on one occassion, a senator's son and his novia were coming down las palmas on a moto, just before san diego, and according to a witness, while passing a car, gave the car's driver the bird. then the car came up along side the moto, shot both of them, and yelled outta the car, 'yeh, f**k you, too.'

sorry i can't help you with the helmet search in bogota.

the above story points out how drastically and for the safer, colombia has changed over these past 15-16 years. whew! it was so wild and dangerous then. really exciting, but dangerous as hell.

At EuroCross. I just asked my brother and he told me he bought his at "Euro Cross" at Carrera 7 No. 84-91, Local 1 (Esso gas station). You can find more info including phone and fax #s at http://www.eurocross.org (select Colombia from the pulldown menu).

Forgot to tell u... He also told me he paid some $300K COP for it two years ago; prices shouldn't have gone up too much though he says.

Ronman Where was the HD dealer at. There is a new one in the Zona Rosa, and they told me they were the only dealer in Colombia.

Dan The one in Zona Rosa just opened up last week or so. Ronman said that he went to one in Nov. 04. I had heard that there was another one somewhere in the city.

Last week? Talking about the one right near Atlantis Plaza? That's been there for quite a while. I know guys who have been going there for that past couple years or so. I havn't heard of any others, so if there is a different one, I'm sure the people I work with would be surprised to hear that.

Dan Did they renovate the store or move locations? When I went searching for a Harley Dealer there, the store I went to was empty, and they were just putting together the merchandise area in the front, and the shop in the back. Before I left, they had most of the new bikes in the front of the shop to. The store wasnt open yet, but they let me inside so I could get a T shirt, and we talked a while about the new bikes and the cost of Harleys down there. 2o bucks an hour for labor is a great deal. Do you ride down there?

Dan says on Jan 25, 2005, 09:23:

Could have renovated... I havn't been in the store before, and I don't ride motorcycles. Any time I've been in the area of the store, it's usually very late in the night and closed.
