Where are the Colombians in New Jersey?

Not too long ago some modefoque Colombians, I say modefoque with a very positive tone and some Colombians experts claimed that Colombians in New York were endangered species.
Well, if that is true I invite Colombians and friend of Colombia to visit New Jersey.
I just returned from Jersey where I visited some of my relatives but where my relatives live there is NOTHING about Colombia, NOTHING but very expensive houses with large and beautiful yards, lots of trees or pines trees surrounding the peaceful landscape and the interstate highways, several lakes here and there, lots of deers and bears crossing the highways during the early mornings or late afternoons. The closest convenient store is in the moon and the nearest bank is in Italy, just kidding. There are lots of great Italian restaurants in Jersey.

Gastronomically speaking this secluded and remote neighborhood is very boring so I decided to go to Colombia or where Colombians meet to chat and eat.
I decided to go to Paterson, New Jersey, there on Main Street I found, and thanks goodness, lots of Colombian restaurants and businesses.
Among the very successful Arab community: Palestinians, Lebanese, Egyptians, Iranians and Turkish businesses, on this very same Main Street, Colombians share the same success. As you walk either into the laundromat or a restaurant you are quickly greeted by a very happy and very helpful Colombians!
While I was getting a haircut at the Arab barber shop, a lovely Colombian attendant from the Laundromat next door had my two shirts nicely folded. La Carbonera Restaurant recommended to visit a good barber shop and Kalid (Not quite sure of the spelling) who cut my hair, he amicably told me to visit his uncle’s store down the street to purchase Arab goods or sourvenirs.

Now, let’s take a look at the places that I visited on my short vacation in Paterson.
For food aficionados, there is also 21st Street another very popular area in Paterson, NJ.
21 ST street it is overwhelmed with Colombian restaurants and businesses alike.

First, I have to figure that the Iranians and Turks would dispute their grouping with Arabs, but also, in terms of tracking down Colombians, you might check out Elizabeth - especially during the Carnival festivities in September. Plenty of chicharron (sp?) to be found.

Other than that, yes, Jersey is generally the wasteland that its reputation suggests.

I hear this all the time from the Union City NJ Cubans that have moved to Miami. They tell (cuban mambisas) me " U/C Used to be a nice place until those south americans moved in, meaning the Colombians" that's why they in turned moved here to Habana Norte, Miami Fl. When the Colombians aren't around in earshot, the Cubans really badmouth them,, You want to see truly what the Cubans think of Colombians, wait until the Election season here in Miami gets going between Miami Area Cuban Congresswoman Illena Ros Lehtinen and the Colombian Challeneger A. Taddeo. You will see Dirt and Swiftboating like you never saw before. It will be brutal but you will see the true feelings,,,I'll let you know as probably I will be doing some Politiking and sign waving for Taddeo, as well as for those other challengers opposing the other two incumbent Cuban Congressmen, the 2 Diaz Balart Brothers(nephews of ex-dictator fulgencio batista). Probably we will set up our signs like last time (2004)across from the Versaille Restaurant on calle 8 in Little Habana. This is referred to as "going into the belly of the Beast". I have never received the Middel Finger and called so many Cuban Cuss words as I was those days.It was Hilarious,,,This time I'll take my Video camera.
