What's up with telecommunication in Bogota?

Since last friday, I cannot reach my wife on either landline ( TelMex) or cell phone (Movistar)using my local telco ( Telus in Canada ) or Rogers AT&T ( Canada also ). I managed one call on Saturday thru Rogers but thats been it since. Usual voice messages ....'welcome to Movistar and then disconnect tone, and with TelMex... message states that either it is not a correct number or it is disconnected... then English speaking voicemail... 'your call did not go through....etc'.

When I spoke with my wife on Saturday on cellular, she said that she does not have landline or internet and had to go to another business to call. When she contacted TelMex they told her that they were 'cleaning the wires'..... WTF? ...... another level of intelligence has surfaced..........

Anyone shed light on this?

That all sounds very rare. You are sure she is not with an exlover? I have never had this type of problems in more than 12 years. WEhy she is not making a collect call? Call here with skype on here cellphone.

hahahaha.... but how did she get both Movistar and TelMex to give Telus and Rogers voice messages? She is in the north of Bogota near Gran Estacion... If she was with X lover.. her daughter would have gone ballistic.

Jonas...... don't forget the fee.

Ok... don't know Bogota that well.... but it is a nicer neighborhood. Daughter is only 12.... no cell phone for her! She already had one but had it ripped off at school. What is considered north? Is this the Chico area? Visited the Harley Davidson shop there....and I think there is a mall there called 'Atlantis' or something like that.

'Boring' is good where the daughter is concerned. We picked that area because of the availablitiy of a decent apartment and proximity to a good private school. The last place she rented was on the 6th floor, no elevator, no heat, no hot water, and the second bedroom was simply some planking across the upper area of the one bedroom. When I was there I spent one night where the rain was dripping through so we went to the Hotel Diamante until we found the present apartment.

I had another look at the map and I see that we are actually east of the airport.

Thanks for the clarification.

Ok.... mystery solved... wife didn't pay her movistar bill because I didn't send her enough plata. And the TelMex situ is due to the cable router... which they are coming to fix. Ah... all works out in the end.She juggles the money I give her so I can't say anything. I know that little girls can be expensive..... and big ones too!

Oh brother, another Western Union relationship....

Telmex is sucky, otherwise things work just fine here. I never have a problem with my cellphone OR internet (ETB and Comcel respectively).

Just promise me you will post the final results on here after she's finished emotionally blackmailing you and decides to move on.

Ah geez..... ye of little faith..... hahahahahahah... gotta laugh but I know what you mean. I know how much the apt /services and school costs, so I pay this with no hesitation. I also send extras for the daughter and herself from time to time. She keeps all the receipts in case these are required for the Canadian embassy . So.... when the time comes... I'll send a personal invite to see us off at the airport.

Amen to that! I wouldn't send a friggin dime to Col unless I was there personally to see how's it spent. And then i wouldn't need to send it in the first place. :) LOL. Cleaning the wires, that's hilarious!
