what's up cowboy,

....you must be taking that new drug that's out, 'change me incredible' it's very popular and alters one's dominant alter ego, replacing it with another 'more incredible' alter ego. cest la vie.

i am a bit curious, since i, like another poster, judge/see you as a rational incredibly happy and contented married man. my curiosity is this, what does your wife say/think of this, of late,
'encredible' alter ego? i know my own paisa would address me some changes were i to 'morf', so.

happy tails,

dw

I am a rational, incredibly happy and contented married man. You might have noticed, this site is only loosely tied to reality. My wife was reading some of the threads on the site but I have to laboriously translate and explain all of it to her. Assuming that I even have a wife, that is. Happy tails to you too, Senor!

I once was an confused man like Utopia then I realized that I had inadvertantly been wearing my brothers size large jockey underwear instead of my extra larges.

cowboy your wife has been in the states for over a year, and still can't read any English?? what has she been doing?? more importantly, what have you been doing ??(oh, yes, posting on internet forums, instead of teaching your wife english).
There is an "espaƱol only" section here, can she read that?? Maybe you can get her to post some things there, i.e. what she thinks of life in the U.S., what she thinks about being married to you, etc., etc.,......I'd be VERY curious to get HER side of this "marriage"......

no english after a year? heh, listen, my wife has been here--back and forth--for fifteen! years and still 'chooses' not to speak english. she can get by, but that by no means implys she speaks english. i might add that at times it's more embarassing than inconvenient. first and foremost for her, but for the household as well.

i learned spanish over those years. fluent, you ask? nope, but i can get around and be understood by anyone, anywhere. but my wife is another story.

at first, it was fodder for many an argument, but as i choose no war benieth my roof, i gave in and learned spanish, while she did not learn english. we speak spanish at home and thus avoid 'mucha lucha' sobre esta.

so, i don't find cowboy's delima so odd. not at all, i understand it completely.

It really isn't helping her though.

My wife was forced to learn English primarily because I am lousy with Spanish, but knowing my wife she probably wouldn't have it any other way. It would be quite easy for her to get along only speaking Spanish here in Orlando, but she prefers to speak English as that is the local language.

A second or third language is a great asset, and the best way to learn is to live in a foreign country. Take advantage of life's opportunities and jump in.

dwmte so let's see.....you and your wife have been together for 15 years?? is that correct?? She is not fluent in English, and you are not fluent in Spanish?? Ok, whatever floats your boat..........sure makes for great communication
dwmte & cowboy......2 peas in a pod......

Geez, I'm stupid. Why didn't I think of that? Teach her English! And I think that I can speak English too so that would make things a lot easier. Much easier than teaching her Inuit, which I can't really speak. I am sure glad I went to this internet site. Otherwise God knows where we'd be. Let me get my air compressor and start inflating her now so we can start on the English lessons.

regardless of what my wife accomplished in Colombia (or any other foreign country), I would never be content with her being an under-achiever and not learning English (and becoming fluent), while living here in the US as my wife and mother of my children.

utopiacowboy says on Dec 26, 2004, 15:15:

What if she was an inflatable doll? Would you be content with her then? I think DW is going to go call his wife a loser and get divorced right now. What has he been thinking of for the last 15 years? That guy's got a lot of nerve, being married to a woman who doesn't speak English! It's a good thing they're going back to Colombia soon.

Pablo could certainly help you guys out. give him a call and let him know what you need and he can provide. I heard he is very consistent and resourceful in many areas, isn't that so utopia?

Utopia CowBoy For as long as I have been active on this site Utopia Cowboy has been always helpful and courteous to all (including me) that asked his advice on Colombia, on immigration and visa matters or anything else. Just go back read all three pages of the My Girlfriend Travel to Panama posts and you can understand what might put anyone (Utopia Cowboy) in a negative frame of mind.

I don't feel in a negative frame of mind at all. Maybe I am wrong about this as I am in sooooooooooo many other things! It's a wonder that I can even get up in the morning and get to work without the advice of complete strangers on the internet. Since the connection between this forum and reality was so obviously frayed, I decided to just completely detach it from its moorings and enjoy the ride.

Utopia Cowboy You are correct that there is voices on this forum that do not project or talk about reality as each of us individually may see it but does that mean that we should quit swimming against the stream and join them making it all senseless. No, not on this forum nor in our lives should we give up our individual spirt and join those whose comments and statements do not share our own values or feelings. If we do that what is the purpose in our lives but to swim downstream with others. I for one see in the future a time that I might consider your decsision stated about but it will only be after I have taken my last breath of air.

I enjoyed your individually much more than your life after detachment. People of reason are more than able to separate fact from fiction, reality from bullshit and truth finds the light of day just as water in a lake finds its own level. I know you have quit trying to make sense out of others non-sense but go back to your ownself and let the non-sense of others be recognized by others for what it is.

Come back and rejoin the majority of posters that speak (post) intelligent comments or requests for assistance to provide or share assistance and/or information to others that need or request it and let the few non-sense posts have a life of their own (on their own).

I would be thankful cowboy I have always respected your opinion. I don't think it is worth tossing all sense overboard just because a few people post ignorant messages. There will always be comments that should never be told, but that doesn't mean the the majority are lunatics. Mothership calling Utopia ... come home.

You've been mean to me, even though I've never been nasty to you at all, but I'll forgive you if the old Utopia comes back! ;-) Don't let the wind-up merchants grind you down! We need you!
