What's the Usual Time frame of having the (fiance) visa in hand, after the interview?

In other words, how many days after the interview, does one (lady) actually have the visa in hand and can leave the country?
Any of those with recent experience, either first hand, or indirect, who can help... I am much obliged. Need to know, for planning appropriately. Thanks for your help, in advance.

Try poking around www.visajourney.com

All sorts of timelines and readily available info there.

I think it was the next day for my wife. I know I went down for the interview and we came back together. I would alow 4 or 5 days to be safe.

This is first hand information. Once the fiance / beneficiary receives their visa (1 to 3 days after interview), they have 6 months, 180 days, to use the visa ... ie: leave for the US. It is good for one entry into the US.

You don't state which country this is for and your profile does not give a clue?

For my wife to get her visa changed from student to spouse (in principal the same as a fiance visa from the British Embassy point of view) we walked into the embassy and it was approved the same day for immediate use. If they had got queries that they could not resolve in that day it would have taken longer so I would try and leave as long a gap as possible to be on the safe side and to stop yourself from getting too much stress.

Good luck.

Omnispire, it's for the USA.
And, the reason I posted this question, is because my girlfriend said that the new Packet Three (I think that is correctly stated) has some information that says 'The visa will be given within 10 Days after the interview'. And, I really don't have that kind of time to wait around. That's why I said it was only a matter of trying to more appropriately plan.

Is it necessarily 'new', that the packet says 'within 10 days'?
Or, has it always said that?
Most I have spoken with, get the visa in hand, within two to four days after the interview, it seems. But, has the paperwork always said, 'within 10 days', just so they have time to work with, within the embassy?

They say 10 days, but that would be worst case scenario. Generally, it is a day or two later. They said the same thing when my fiance got her package 3 exactly a year ago. I have even heard of some people getting the visa later the same day - but that seems to be rare. Count on 3 business days, but don't be surprised if they tell her to come back the next day.

Hey Rob, I'm wondering, do they ever say: "It will be in the mail"
Or, do they ALWAYS say you can PICK IT UP HERE, TOMORROW (or, whatever day.)
Or, do they give you that option?

Robert Jorge says on Jan 15, 2008, 20:25:

You are expected to pick it up. I also heard a person can be given permission to pick up the visa, but I do not know what that involves. The reason is because the consulate guys will give the passport back with the visa attached to a page, as well as a packet of rules and instructions. I have no idea if that can be mailed - I never heard of that being done.

my fiancee was told to come back the next working day in the afternoon. but, then they said the system was down and we had to wait until the following monday. so, we were in Bogota from thursday until monday afternon.

if the interview is on a friday, or the next day is a colombian or american holiday, then you will have to come back on the next weekday such as a monday if the interview was on a monday.

and, sometimes they claim to be backed up and make you wait an extra day. usually it is some excuse like 'our computer system is down'.

hopefully you will have an interview on a monday, tuesday or wednesday and without any of the many colombian or american holidays screwing you up.

personally, I think the entire process is pitiful service, especially when the fees are getting higher and higher.

while the visajourney site may be an overload of info, it is the best site in my opinion for K1 and K3 visas info,

count on next day service in the afternoon at best and maybe as many as 3 or 4 days.

sounds like my own game plan, tony.
I want to be there for the interview, but tally-ho! back in the office the next day, or two.
and, I guess if that would work, then she also will be in tow.

there has been posts about not being able to pick up the visa at the embassy the following work day and being forced to use the Domesa service.

it seems that you can pick up the visa at the Domesa service office in Bogota about 2 days after the interview and approval.

i would try to wait in bogota and pick up the visa at the Domesa office if it is no longer possible to pick it up at the embassy.

Unless, of course,... something like Easter Holiday gets in the way,... in which case, it took over 10 days to get to the Domesa in Cali.

Never in the previous years, Have I ever realized just howmuch Easter can get in the way in Colombia
