What's the name?

What's the name of the little critter that looks like a cross between a lizard and a salimandor? They inhabit many areas of my house and I'm sure that they help keep the bug problems down. I also think that it's these critters that make a chirping like sound. I've seen them in many different colors. ???????????

You guys made me doubt myself... I just went looking for the pictures... It definately was a gecko at my mom's... not a lagartija.... lol.... it was yellowish with brown spots and curly inward tail....

I went to reach for it, because I thought it was dead and it took off....

geckos have bigger heads than lagartijas. I didn't realize there were geckos in pereira, that is why I went with lagartija.

I recognize the lagartija in colombiche's picture, but to be honest, I never paid much attention to those little thingies...I believe they are called just "lagartijas" in Cali but may well be of different species...just like "gringo" is an umbrella term for all non-latino, non-Asian foreigner....

lol....

that's why I'm telling you, it didn't look like a regular lagartijita... I've seen those too, but this time I was kind of shocked to see an actual gecko... I didn't think there were any at all....

Then again, maybe it was jet lag and bad vision... lol.... Can't blame it on drinking, since I hadn't started yet...

It was the way the tail was curled, most lagartijitas don't curl the tail while I believe geckos due....

LOL... Drive, thanks.... They are similar to those pictures, I can't find the exact one I saw... But, it was yellow with spots and had a curly tail.... no fat tail.... It really looks like the gecko from geico, only yellow with brown spots... but, that's just a drawn picture, so, I don't know, maybe I'm just losing my mind... but, it didn't look like a ligartijita to me....

What the heck is a tegu or skink.... I obviously did now have enough boys in my neighbor to show me the difference... Then again, the only things I can recognize are... a green lizard or small variation of... I thought a gecko, but maybe not, but the feet, they're webed right, oh well, maybe not... maybe spiderman.... black widows, ants, and roaches.... That's about all I know....

Now the chupacabra and chuchacabra might me one in the same... I'd be careful during your experiments "Driveallnight", you'd be amazed at the things people confuse with one too many bottles of aguardiente...

lol

This is a blue-tailed skink. There are a few near my parents cottage, but skinks are more common in Colombia.

Skinks shed their tail if you grab it with two hands. This trait might be disturbing in a skank.
