post your local news of general interest here: Colombian Newsreel as reported by the expat community and as reported in the online papers from Colombia. (Strictly Colombia-related)
I'll start: In Cali, the Cauca River is floating with garbage. Clean-up needed, urgently.
The Mio is being delayed by legal hassle; two lawsuits have been filed by different entities which both believe to have the right to run it.
What's happening in your town?

Desideria (Moderator) says on Feb 10, 2008, 03:31: Robert Jorge, I don't think so either. I don't know if there's any kind of government or municipal program to give these people shelter or temporary help, but it sucks the air right out of your lungs to see them settling down under a ceiba or matarratón for the night, exposed to bad weather, bad people, disease and hunger. MaFe says on Feb 10, 2008, 09:06: Desi thanks for the update...una pregunta...when I was in Cali in July, I didn't notice the fake blondes as much as January...is that a phase along with the breast implans/butt implants? "No comment" is a splendid expression. I am using it again and again." -Winston Churchill |

miamimike says on Feb 10, 2008, 09:12: "• Miami District 18. Look for an announcement next week that Annette Taddeo, a dynamic and well respected Colombia-born Miami businesswoman, will run against Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who was elected in 1989 while her husband prosecuted Raul Martinez (see District 21 above) and thwarted Martinez’ intent to run for Congress. Now, that would be a grudge match – if Ex Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez were running against Ros-Lehtinen -- but the district lines no longer call for that! CatGirl says on Feb 10, 2008, 10:01: JS Catgirl - I hope you don't think I am JS? ooops! ....Did I say that? |

Desideria (Moderator) says on Feb 10, 2008, 10:15: MaFe, you've been in Cali more recently than I. (I 'm just reading ElPais on-line:) I was looking at the photos of the "sociales" section and noticed that almost all the ladies were strawberry blond and had straightened their hair. I certainly hope it is just a phase, too much bleach totally ruins your hair on the long run. I like to get my hair highlighted in the summer, but every time I have had it done in Cali they have totally destroyed my hair by using too strong products on my fine, thin Nordic hair. |
|
bopenyan says on Feb 12, 2008, 10:18: Pampero is a great restaurant. Their baby beef, done "azul", is great. And the shops in the new plaza in Centenario are way overpriced by any standard.
