Whatever Happened To 'Shane'?

Shane used to bombard us with questions after question about his trip to Colombia-but he hasn't been heard from for a while now. Well maybe he's snuggled up with some Paisa somewhere and the cold comfort of cyberspace has lost it's allure ;)

Bakc again Hello everyone. I had to take a break. Too much information about a coutry you are about to travel kind of takes the mystery out of it. I am in Medellin right now. It is a nice city. I found a place. I am renting aroom in one of the nicer areas of Medellin. It is more than Iwanted to pay, but I needed a place. I figure you can waste tht money on hotels anyway. I like Colombia so far. The Spanish is beautiful. The accent here is wonderful. I like to prices of food and rum here. The women are beyond beautiful.

This week I am going to check out some language schools and then I plan on travelling to Manizales and Cali. I want to do a little travelling. Mostly I enjoy hanging out with the people in the cafes and talking about everything. People have a lot of question about Canada. In fact the nature around the city reminds me of Canada.

No snow of course.

See you

Welcome Back Hey Shaner
I too was wondering what happened to you. I always found your barage of questions interesting. I also found the nature in Colombia reminds me of the nature here in BC, minus the snow (thank god). Don't blame you for not keeping up on the posts with all those paisa's around who would want to sit in front of the computer. Athough, I hope you let us know how things work out for you there as you get settled in.

Buen suerte!

Oh Shane, Shane, Shane, you ARE in Medellin. "The women are beyond beautiful". Right you are, my man!

Medellin Very nice place. You can eat in the Centro for under a dollar and drink some very nice rum and cokes. I love rum. The rum here is delicious and sooooo cheap.

The girls are very nice. As I walk past people here they have a quick look and I know they are trying figure out what the hell I am doing here. I guess Medellin gets very few foreigners. I think people might be a little afraid of me. It is a weird thing.

Anyway, Cali on SAturday and then back to Medellin. I would like to see Bogota as well.

No miedo, creo. I doubt that they are afraid of you, Shane. Just very curious. When I am in Medellin and I see another gringo (which rarely happens), even I have to stare at the guy and wonder what the heck he is doing here.

Hey Shane SWEET.... your in Colombia I know you won't regret it. Colombia is awesome and the women are very friendly and beautiful.

I return to Bogota on the 26th of July and am excited. I wish I could go earlier since classes start in August, but that's life.

If your ever in Bogota look me up or write me, Bogota is awesome with so much to do, not like the small pueblitos where there is just women, rum, and fiestas which is awesome, but we all know eventually dies down after awile. For me Colombia is awesome with westerner friends I don't know why probably a cultural thing.

See ya around,

Pete

question for Pete Hey Pete, you said you study in Los Andes, what is to do in the area surrounding the U, is there plenty of bars, cafes, etc? Is there a few international students, or you are the only gringo around (just curious) ?
And another question, how far is it from the Transmilenio station?

Thanks in advance

Suerte !
