What types of visa is best for a long term stay

Hi everybody. Its been a long time since I've posted.
Anyone have any advice on how I can stay in Colombia for basically indefinitely. I have spent 6 months there per year since 2004. But return to the U.S. when the 6 months end, not that I want too.
I have checked the Colombia embassy site and really can't find anything( maybe my spanish is not fluent enough).
I don't have enough money for an investor visa( I think its ($100,000). Can't buy a business at the moment. Don't want to get maried just yet.
Basically I need something I can re-new over and over again while living there without needing to return to the U.S.
I love and respect the country and want to live there without the worry of visas and being forced to leave hanging over my head.
Can anyone here help me? Thank you,.

Spouse Visa Meets All Your Requirements
and can lead to permanent residency after three years. If not I don't know of anything that would help except a possible TS(Temporal Especial) Renista Visa. This is almost like a pensioner's visa except the funds may come from any source-you likely will, at a minimum, have to show an income of at least a $1.000 USD a month.
Only other possibility would be a student visa but that has a limited time determined by enrollment.

UC any ideas?????????

Rentista VISA requires US$2000 per month income or US$24,000 in cash or stock. You can get the first Rentista outside of Colombia then renew in Colombia. I am working on my third one.

Types of Visa I think what kevin is trying to see is that he doesnt want to live Colombia each six months for that case, it is better to study his case and see what visa goes better with his situation.

There are plenty types of visa, most unknown for many people and more fo them can be obtain for free ( US citizens) of course it depends of Kevin expectations.

tomtom33 there have been more than one instance in which MRE has granted a Renista Visa with less than the income stated on its web site. I know of one case that the income was $800 USD a month and not the stated 14 times the minimum monthly salary.

The problem: He would be better off dealing with MRE in Bogotá directly but, generally speaking, he must be in Colombia on a visa issued by a consulate before he can apply for "new" different visa type. His problem is we do not know exactly what his circumstances are or what he can afford.

If he can last for five years he can apply for permanent residence and hurrah, no more problems,

Thanks ....... Thanks all for your help. My financial situation is basically I have been working in the states for 6 months and then living in Medellin for six. I am sorry to say I don't have a lot of money in the bank and when I am in Colombia my income is O.I usually go with 10 grand and it is plenty for six months, actually I can live for a year there on that. I can show past income for years of $800 or even $2000 per month, but once I am in Colombia my income stops.
I do work as a teacher for 2 different schools in Medellin. But is not on the books. That is how I plan to support myself long term there, 2 mil por mes.Working alot of hours. Poorbuthappy right?
Also it's is hard to get a work visa because the schools don't seem to want to deal with the paperwork involved.
I just don't know, maybe I should call the embassy in Miami, I heard they are the best of them.
Anybody know this lawyer Estaban who posted? Is he legit?
Ok thanks, I'll keep searching.

wow, that sounds like a big mistery... so many kind of Visa not even reported on the MRE website... interesting, could you specify more Esteban?

Kev, start studying the on website (http://www.minrelext.gov.co/wps/portal/!ut/p/.cmd/cs/.ce/7_0_A/.s/7_0_1CK7/_th/J_0_VB/_s.7_0_A/7_0_UP/_s.7_0_A/7_0_1CK7)
and try to define better which VISA to go for. Also, if you send to MRE an email they will answer.
