I agree with them on the whiskey. I will tell you the things that I always bring back or have sent down...Copenhagen, Spices Lawrys etc. and Seagrams 7

When Colombians refer to whiskey they usually mean Scotch. You will be hard pressed to find any good Kentucky bourbon or whiskey. We have often taken bottles of Scotch down as gifts because it is outrageously expensive in Colombia.

Depending on your ocupation and intersts tool and specialty item of that sort. If you use mechanics tools bring them, if you are a photographer bring your tripod etc. I like to use a screwdriver on a small (1/4") socket, here they have never heard of such a thing etc, I had to have some made. Instant Mashed potatoes mix is impossible to find. PB is very expensive. $4USD for a small jar. What is important for you . bring. I brought a large number of paperback books and have tried to repace them when possible.

Things that I have had sent to us from the U.S.:
Vitamins and supplements, an English keyboard, double-layer blank DVD's (13,000 pesos each?), regular white briefs, oriental and Mexican cooking ingredients, catnip, printer ink cartridges, electric razor, replacement toothbrushes for an electric toothbrush, a big bottle of aspirin, Q-tips, etc.

Many of these things can be found in Colombia, but most everything costs more here, except for fresh produce, taxi rides, labor and very few other things.

I finally found Jack Daniels, bought some for when my dad came to visit. Not sure if you can find it in CTG

1. Bedding such as bedsheets and pillowcases, a light duvet or comforter too because all that stuff is of bad quality there, not to mention pretty ugly.

2. Same goes for towels, the towels down there are cheap, cheap, cheap.

3. Electronics such as digital cameras, cordless phones, and such, stuff down there is a lot more expensive.

4. Sneakers. Same reason, more expensive down there.

5. Jeans. Again, more expensive down there.

Bedding: I had mine made in Bogota for my down bedding. A truly wonderful cloth that guarantees sweet dreams and the whole set (without comforter) cost me 130 mil. A real beauty and great work just they way I wanted it.

Hola!

Natural Peanut Butter was well loved in Cali! Aspirin & Omega 3 are much higher than in the USA, but a big screen LCD TV is much more expensive in Colombia, so bring it and pack other things inside the TV box! Keep your receipt for the TV, since customs wants money if it costs over $1,500. My 32" TV box had its price of $419 on it!! Your price will be about $500-$1,000 cheaper in the USA!
