It's not so much a matter of legality as it is one of either convenience or (for some, I imagine) morality.

It's possible that the killing wasn't motivated by his opposition to the above. Or maybe it really was, but we can't really know at the moment....

Sadly, some of his closest friends were not so lucky. We have lost fincas and other property to the FARC bastards. I could go on, but all Colombians can tell the same stories.

Are these the acts of a genuine insurgency? No. The FARC and particularly it's leaders are nothing more than a bunch of thugs who prey on the weak and innocent while running and hiding from any real threat. How many campesino kids have been snatched from their families to be little more than slaves and human shields for Tirofjo and the rest of those bastards. Sadly, the Paras are no better and are just as guilty. However, this doesn't make the FARC any better.

That's all people do here in Toronto to me, even my family does it. Cocaine or corruption or kidnapping jokes. Annoying but also in some ways very disrespectful.

A coworker started explaining to me how everything in Colombia had a corrupt or unreliable connotation because of the reputation, and how i was ridiculously risk-taking to get on a colombian metro-system or rollercoaster or something... and I tried to dispel the offensive stereotypes, but they continue, to my chagrin.

My girlfriend has always told me that the FARC are 'nada mas que animales...' and I explained that even animals don't stoop to such levels of low-lifeness. She agrees and has ceased to insult animals in this way.
