Tip: if you're an american citizen living abroad, taxplanner cpa has great information about taxes for expats. They have a for-pay service, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended, check out their site if you have any questions about taxes and living abroad.

I saw Pirry last night as I do every sunday, however this episode was profound, the young grandmother, and guns next to newly born children, its another world , gatos ay caramba the gangs, I was a little concerned or interested as how it was filmed for example babies eyes getting blocked out on tv, etc.. but very good documentation of the real south bogota

Depends on what you value.

Where do you work?
Where do your friends and family live?
How much do you want to pay?
Do you want an awesome view of the city?
Do you want to be around malls and restaurants?
What kind of transportation do you use.

I personally think Centro International is an interesting area of the city opening up. Sure there are huge highrise apartment buildings, but if you want new, big, great view, semi cheap apartments, that is the place to look. I think the area is going to start booming really soon. Right now its a little unsafe, but as more and more people move there, it will be interesting to see what happens.

I was thinking about getting a place in La Macarena (around cl 26 con la 4). Anyone have any thoughts about this part of town? It's close to BI, which is nice, but a lot can change in a couple of blocks. The big plus is that it's cheap, but I don't want to get robbed twice a month to save a few bucks on accommodation.
