Does anyone out there know what sagu is? I have heard that is a type of grain grown in parts of Colombia and the flour is used to make achiras. But no one seems to know the english or latin name for it. I ask because....I would like to know if it is suitable for someone with a gluten allergy. Thanks in advance for all responses.

kernow62 says on May 17, 2006, 07:39: I think we are mixing up our plants here. I believe sagú to be the achira plant scientific name Canna edulis. Related to Canna indica which I grow in my garden, but unrelated to the Sago Palm. It is an Andean canna lily not a tropical variety.
