I have sent an email to the MRE but havn't heard back, which is typical whenever we email them. Maybe someone has an email address they actually reply to?
But regarless, surely many of you have been through this already and can help me out.
My visa will soon expire and I need to renew it. It is a conjugal visa since my husband is Colombian. My first visa was issued at the MRE in Bogota if that makes any difference. Do I need all the paperwork from the first time all over again? Does it all have to be recent copies
(like the marriage papers less that 90 days old again)? Also, I am still working at the same place that my visa gives me permisison to work. Do I need all that paperwork from the school I am working at again? Like the contract, a new proportionality certificate, etc?
If anyone can help, it would be great. Thanks.

Aji1 says on Jul 20, 2009, 06:48: If you are married to a Colombian national living and working in COL why not get the spouse VISA, but not with the "HOGAR" endorsement? I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

adrienne79 says on Jul 20, 2009, 07:56: Aji, I think you are very confused. I never said I have "hogar" on my visa. I actually already did the change and have "docente" on my visa with the name of the school I work at. I just want to know how to renew it, not make changes to it. And I am very aware of the serach feature, thx.

adrienne79 says on Jul 20, 2009, 09:56: theflatline- Do you have a phone number that they actualy answer? When I went through the process the first time, we found they never answer the phone. Plus we my husband and I actually work during business hour so don't have time to call a million times untill they actually decide to pick up. If I was in Bogota, I would go in person and ask but taking a bus for 8 hours is not an option.

lili says on Jul 20, 2009, 13:19: I hope this heIps. I renewed my TC visa last year at the MRE in Bogota. I had to go through the entire process again, presenting all the paperwork and everything as if it was the first time, except that this time they asked to see my "matricula profesional" (which I didn't know I needed because nobody at the university where I work had ever asked for it) so I had to return to Medellin without a visa. Fortunately my husband needed to return to Bogota a week later and used that chance to ask for my visa again (which I finally got!).

adrienne79 says on Jul 20, 2009, 14:27: Lili, I see from your previous post that it seems it was your first time to get a spouse visa in Feb. 2008 after having just a tourist visa. That would explain the definite need for all the paperwork. Thanks for trying to help though.

lili says on Jul 20, 2009, 19:31: Actually, I had one TC visa before and last year I renewed it (my old one had expired about four months before because I was out of the country though). Anyway, they told me that I needed all the paperwork again.

adrienne79 says on Jul 22, 2009, 11:54: It took us about three weeks to get it the first time around. But the lag had to do with waiting for it to get picked up in Bogota and then mailed to us here in Bucaramanga. My guess is I am going to need it again.
