What clubs and bars are busy in Cali on August 12?

What I plan to do unless you guys tell me otherwise is:

I arrive in Cali at 7:30pm by the time the driver get me to the Intercontinental Hotel and I get ready it will be about 10:00pm. I will go to “Avenida Sexta” for some drinks and socializing. Then should I head to “Plaza Norte” for dancing and drinking? Then after that I plan on going to “Juanchitos” for more dancing. What clubs are hot right now there? Are they still open until 6:00am?

Any help you guys could give me I would appreciate because I have not been to Cali since March 2005. The music I like and can dance to is Electronic/Trance, Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Merengue, Salsa, Disco, Freestyle and a couple of others. I have danced some Vallenato and a couple other Colombian song types but I would not say that I am any good at those. Thank you ahead of time.

Thanks,

Peter Miami

hey i´ll be in Cali this weekend too.. i´ll probably check out avienda sexta, there´s are places that play all those types of music for you. usually the techno or rave places have a young crowd 18-20. If cali is anything like other COL city, then the clubs close at 1 or 2am, then you´ll have to find place that has after hours.

peter I liked a club in cali call SUBTERRANEO it's in La Luna they close at 6am, the music, the people and the atmosphere are amazing the club is big i think it has 3 dancefloors and it's in a basement and the interior of the club simulates something from the Flinstones movie, the walls and ceiling makes you feel like you are right under the ground or under a tree the toilets even have Pedros (Fred)and Vilmas (Wilma) name tags on them. but i don't know your taste in clubs that one is quite popular with the middleclass people not "play" enough as they say in cali.

If you are going to Juanchito the best clubs have always been Chango and Baracoa! Agapito and Don Jose are good but not for me too many bandidos if you know what i mean the music is out of this world though! But if you go to Juanchito don't forget to go to SAMBACARAMBA really nice place cool people, good music and beautiful girls. but if you are staying at the Intercontinental why don't you get a Chiva bus from there to all the best clubs in Cali? it passes avenida sexta stops there for drinks and heads off to Juanchito visiting all the main clubs. (for those of you who don't know what i mean by chiva it's a typical colombian bus that has been turned into a nightclub and that drives through all the main roads in Cali visiting all the clubs)

Mrs Gomez,Thank you very Mrs Gomez,

Thank you very much I have never heard of that one is it new? Where is La Luna? I have been to Chango, Baracoa, Sambacaramba and a couple others that I do not remember their names. About the “Chiva” I am doing that in Armenia with a bunch of people the following weekend. I do not think I would like to do that in Cali because if I like a dance club and want to stay the Chiva will leave with out me, right? I am renting a big SUV (Burbuja), I like to drive so that I can go where ever I want. I do not know too many people in Cali but I do know a lot of people in Armenia. Thanks for the information I will definitely go to Subterraneo. If you come up with any others places let me know because on my two weeks vacation I am not sleeping just dancing all the time.

Peter Subterraneo is OK for an after hours party but certainly wouldn't start out there.

Save Chango in Juanchito for Sundays when there is no other place better to go dance.

Forget Avenida Sexta. It's a dump compared to the discos just outside the city limits. If you have to say in the City go to Mystica.

I personally recommend that you go to PRAGA. It used to be called Vertigo and it has been completely remodeled. The hottest women in Cali will be there and so should you.

Calipro 1. Subterraneo at what time should I go there?
2. Outside city limits, where is this?
3. Mystica, where is it?
4. Praga (Vertigo) I think I went there before is it in Juanchitos?

Thank you,

Peter Miami

Peter 1) Subterraneo is really more of an after hours place so I would sometime after 1am.

2)Most of the disco I go to are either in Juanchito or on the way to Yumbo.

3)Misti-K is not far off of Avenida Sexta. It's real close to Mr. Mojitos which you can see from avenida sexta. I don't remember the exact address but it's about sexta con 23. Most taxi drivers should know where it is.

4) No Praga is in Menga. Real close to Baio.

Thank you because after hours start in Miami at 5 or 6 in the morning. I have never been to dance clubs in that area going to “Yumbo” what is that area called? Okay on “Mistica” I have been to “Mr Mojitos” so I can find it from there. Where is “Menga” or “Baio”. What else is “Menga” close to? I appreciate you assistance very much.

Kukaramacara I was there in August 2004 but I do not remember where it is at? Is it close to "Avenida Sexta" and/or "Mr. Mojitos"? Or close to what else?

Thank you,

Small guide All liquour selling stores in Cali (including discos) must close by 3:00 AM. In Juanchito it's until 6:00 Am depending on the place. In Yumbo is 4:00 AM (legal sites, there are some which closes the doors and seems to be closed but with lots of people on the inside).

I recommend:
Iguana Roja (Avenida Sexta A one block from Avenida Estacion towards north)
Mr Mojito (Avenida 5B north # 25N-40) (Avenida Estacion is 27N, si it's 2 blocks toward north)
Lolas (2 kms in the old road to Yumbo)
Mushiba (Calle 10 # 36-160 Km 1 old road to Yumbo )
SambaCaramba (Km2 road to juanchito)
San Alejo (Calle 15A 8N-31. Take the Avenida 8N toward south until 15A Carrera)
And don't forget to visit "La Casa de la Cerveza", located at south (Ciudad Jardin), North (Avenida 8a befor the bridge to get the 1st st, and the one at "Rancho de Jonas", Autopista Suroriental with 44 st).

When in cali, call me at (57-2) 339-2292 or (57-2) 322-0010.ñ Those are local not cellphones.

Julian.

Mrxcol Julian,

Thanks for the wealth of information you have given me. I will definitely call you on Friday or I may even call you from Miami before I leave.

Are you the owner of a club, because if you are I went to your club either in August or December 2004 and I had a good time? It is in the south on Pasancho or something like that. It looks like a castle?

Yes, Quest cafe Bar Yes i owned a Cafe Bar named Quest Cafe Bar located on avenida Pasoancho. I don't remember you being there or having somebody calling me about some gringo-like guy calling for me (i wasn't there all the time but my employees were there). I had it from Aug 2004 until june 2005. I closed it because it's hard to deal with this kind of business without engouh financial power to invest in advertising. The "castle" structure is still there and i'm looking for the landlord to return the house (funny, it's been over two months since closed and the landlord hasn't come for the house).

Anyway i continue in my old business (i'm a small ISP) and taking some tourist when arriving to Cali to city tours. It's enough to mantain my home.

I'd like to go out some day. I've some friends (some owners of bars some singers in bars) mainly from my underwater rugby team which love to dance. Call me to see if we can arrange something. My cell is (311) 333-9789.
