I have been thinking the same thing all day. Perfect day here and last night I had to close the windows for the first time this year because of the chill. Feels like a crisp autumn day in the South. Like college football weather. Absolutely perfect!

- usher, i see two types (we live in the same area) here. the smaller parrots (mainly green). they fly in bigger groups and make quite a bit of noise. i have also see the occasional macaws - they are the loudest. they come from the zoo and they come in a single pair or 4 birds.

- cg/hg, houston is the worst as far as texas in the summer. the humidity combined with the texas heat is a real bizatch in h-town. i die in dallas in july, aug and september. for those of you that don't know, it is brutal during some summers.

- mra, are you frikin retired? you lazy bum! ;)

-ma, you are quite the soccer fan. shout out next time you come in town. i have yet to go to a game - can you believe that? and i played soccer from 5-12.

sorry to the rest of you........ we occassionally get rain here. last night it was cats and dogs for a long while! i had to walk to frikin oviedo for dinner and got soaked!

tm, Normally, that is true. However, last summer was actually pretty mild in Houston. I remember that HG, Mario and I were at the Colombian festival in July and it wasn't that bad.

cg - yeah, you guys (all of texas) got rain for like a month straight in june and relatively cool temps the rest of the summer. however, that was toward the tail end of a 4--5 year dry stretch for texas.

tejasmarcos... I see 2 red/yellow/blue parrots everyday. They are really big and they do a fly-by at about 4:00 in the afternoon and go to various balconies for food.

I keep trying to get their attention but they ignore me. I even made a giant fake parrot... but that just made things worse.

Thanx, tejas. But, no, I liked Puerto Rico, and what I saw of Colombia a lot more. Contrary to what you might hear, I find the weather quite agreeable where I live, and the people are nice, but otherwise . . . . . . . .

I was planning to return to seek a little part-time beach place there after the first of the year, but then all hell broke loose, with Tio Hugo, etc.

A falling $, escalating COP, a rotten stock market, and rising real estate prices there, have also slowed me somewhat.

sloopskipper says on Apr 2, 2008, 10:15:

The macaws are gorgeous! They look like living Colombian flags.

The only parrots I ocassionly see here are the little green pericos. This is a quiet, somewhat green neighborhood, but they seem to prefer the noisy and congested city streets.

But, they are noisy little boogers themselves, and you can sometimes see 30 or more, chattering, in a treetop.

On my way to the airport this morning I came across two beautiful parrots............incredable colours............such glorious birds...........we stopped the car just to look at them..........I walked over to get a closer look.............one flew off.....but the other did'nt spot me................I stood looking at it for the longest time..................as I got closer to it he was startled and almost flew off............I say almost, because I was able to grab the wee f**ker by the neck...........and shove him into a bag.........as I speak I have him broiling slowly on the barbacue in my back yard in Palm Beach...............Parrot and beer........cheers.
