Went to Colombia and survived!!

Hi folks.. had a fantastic 3 weeks in Colombia and didnt get murdered, kidnapped or drugged once..
I am now back in dreary, cold England but my luggage is still enjoying a holiday somewhere between Bogota and Barcelona.
I met some fantastic people, my novia and her family were the most warm and welcoming people i have met, who could not have done more to make me feel part of the family
I didnt do much of the usual tourist visits but will post pics when i get a new cable to upload them
I also met 1 current and 1 ex PBH and their wives who showed us great hospitality and honoured to call them friends
I am going to miss Colombia hugely and cant wait to get back, theres a stack of Arepas with my name on them

Why dont you try to go and live there and open a British style "pie shop" I bet you will clean up. UK style pastries.

Good idea PCL; real pastry that does not contain so much fat that you have heartburn every time. I would buy them in bulk!
After not visiting home for over 2 years, I even fantasize over the old Marks and Spencer meat pies now. Even more, my grandmother's ones!
But seriously Pieman, that could be part of an option and you could do a feasibility study when next here.
That fish and chip shop in El Poblado gets good reports (must try that soon) and as good as the food can be here, one does miss ones favourite creature comforts from home.
So glad you had a great time!

Pieman at least you wrote a positive comment ,it's just some people on here have no sense of humour glad you enjoyed it.
Christ I've been defending this place since 1991 when I first came when I never met any foreigners except in the airport on the way home & these were always European (must be because we are natural explorers) no offence but I never met an American until recently when they deemed it (safe).

It's great to read a positive post on colombia ! Ok, the bit about hardly any english food is scary as hell but most of what i read isn't positive and the family .. well, according to them i'll be shot, drugged, mugged, stabbed, drugged again, then again, organs sold, any remaining drugs in system removed, shot repeatedly for good measure and maybe end up in hospital and as no nhs i'd never afford it .. lol

Ever get the idea the someone's making colombia sound like satans playground just because they don't want you to meet a person .. lol

But on the pie idea .. You HAVE to do Chicken n Mushroom pie's .. hmmm

I'd even be willing to test them out for you until you get it absolutely right And free of charge too !! ;-)
