Well, my fellow PBHrs, I'll be in Colombia soon

It's been a year. I'll be going to Bogota and Armenia very soon. I can't wait to see all the changes in one year.
Last year I was very interested in El Corral hamburgers since I had heard soooo much about them, and also Andres Carnes de Res. I tried them both. Now, I'm going deep into my roots and I'm going for the best fritanga in Bogota, that's right, FRITANGA. I guess you have to be latino and Colombian to enjoy it.
I know some people would say: might as well inject cholesterol in my veins, that's okay. Once a year it's not going to kill me.
I'm going for the Morcilla, chicharon, bofe, higado, chunchullo, papa criolla (yellow potatoes) fried plantains, the works. I'm curious to know how many of you gringos (and mean that in a friendly way) have tried fritanga and liked it, I know it's greasy, but I still love it.
So, people what's the best place for fritanga? My time is running out.

Colombianogringo always talks about the places up in La Calera, he's even posted pictures and let me tell ya, drooling good.

I'm with ya', once or twice a year is not going to kill you, so enjoy it. Have a great time!

I was surprised to find out that in Germany you can also find morcilla, in fact I have bought it here in Los Angeles at German Delis, it's called blood sausage. I know the name is not very appetizing but it's morcilla, and you can have it with or without rice.
Una pica sounds great too. (Pica is like a sampler of all kinds of meats -- fried -- and small pieces. Finger food).

Most definitely will take pictures. A few years ago I made the mistake of video-taping when we were ordering to document the whole process and guess what? When we got to the register they doubled the price. I paid my dues for being a tourist. That won't happen again, I'll wait until everything is paid before I take pictures, LOL.

Well, for those wondering what "Fritanga'' is, the best description I can give is that it's a fried combination of different meat cuts, usually pork and the well-known "morcilla'' (the black sausage) and different types of sausage (chorizo and longaniza). Also the side skin of the pork (Chicharron), this is the skin with a small portion of fat and meat. This is all deep fried along with the yellow potatoes.
These are usually eaten without silverware but you could use silverware if you want. It's fingerfood, small portions.
Refajo is usually the drink of choice (one bottle of beer and one bottle of Colombiana mixed together).
Did I miss anything? Well, when I come back from Colombia you'll see pictures.
I'm hungry already.
