Welcome To The Hotel California....... HOTEL LOCOMBIA

I had allot of free time not too long ago on my hands and rewrote the lyrics to Hotel California but directed every thing towards Colombia. I thought it was allot of fun and thought why not post the lyrics here as see what PBH creative minds come up with. Maybe we can get together and sing the lyrics at Spimgreses (sp) bar in Medellin some day.

Original
Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice

New
Mirrors on the ceiling,
Prepagos on ice..
And they said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ok Raay your turn...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Here are the original lyrics:

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
’this could be heaven or this could be hell’
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the hotel california
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is tiffany-twisted, she got the mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the captain,
’please bring me my wine’
He said, ’we haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine’
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the hotel california
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
And in the master’s chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
’relax,’ said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!

The whole song is a metaphor for cocaine addiction.

LG... I didn't see the 'colitas'.. or... did I jus not know that I saw them?

'what does it mean, when one of you (colombians) tell another: YOU WERE NOT/ARE NOT. 'COLOMBIAN ENOUGH'?? jejeje..a mixture, I think, of stupidity mixed with a false sense of arrogance.. How 'colombian' do you have to be? to be 'colombian enough

Man Tequila I read that interpretation over and you are right. Hmm I always thought it had to do with people lusting for fame and fortune and the so called California Dream. All this time, and I was wrong. We are constantly evolving and learning. Thanks for the info.

Cheers Terry how can you possibly hate this song. I guess if I heard it over and over I would understand. They do say that it is the most played song in the world. Please don't ask me where I got that info.

goin south...why didn't you see what what you didn't see? maybe you wern't going south!

Other interpretations differ, Don Henley's is close to your interpretation.

Lcacique says on Mar 30, 2008, 09:07:

I think your original interpretation was the dominant theme Lg, drugs are simply a part of the excessive lifestyle that was playing out in California at the time.

Hoy se nota en la floresta un ambiente de alegría. ¡Y el rumor de ranchería es mas dulce y sabe a fiesta!
