kat1 (Moderator) says on Sep 3, 2007, 07:17:

by the way Podb, my stayed in Colombia was good, I was very busy with the farm and the flat in Cartagena, I decided not to sell this last one, just to do some renovations, the flat have wonderful views and HSBC just put an office in the building, it would be silly to sell it and buying another one unless the other is a brand new one.

with farm i am planning to build a new house there, also doing some work there, one of the cows had a little calf we called it blacky and it's gorgeous, The people that works on my farm called me La Patrona it sound so weird I laughed everytime, maybe that should be my handle name jejejej, also me and other farmers from the corregimiento had a reunion with the gaula and sijin about security and everytime seem to be ok in the area.

I also went to Bogota i saw my brother's band played it was very good, and we went for a drink in la la zona T.

what else oh, i celebrated my daughter's 15th birrthday, we hired a dj and some lights and we did it in the kiosk where my mum lives, all her friends came and she has a wonderful party. they gave her money as a pressie but i told her to spent it in Colombia as in the UK it's nothing.

anyway i still got so much to do there, i am off in christmas again, and i am planning a trip to Cartagena in January because we have to chosse some floor and stuff for the flat.

BTW, I wasn't two timing like mona says, there were at least 5 women that I was flirting with, although I think 2 of them turned out to be a 15 year old boy masquerading as hot bikini clad girls : (

kat1 (Moderator) says on Sep 3, 2007, 09:16:

thanks CK and Desi, yep i have a good time, with a bit of misfortune, but I can't dwell on the past, my mum house was broken into, we think it was someone we know, unfortunately we think is the lady that did the ironing and cleaned the house, we were in Cartagena, and they did a lot of mess upstairs and only stole my jewelry, nothing else, she denied it but everything seem to go that way although we try not to focus in one person., we went to la sijin, and with a bit of palanca they are looking into the case, it was a weird robbery because they didn't took anything else not even my mum's jewelry, and there was the laptop, digital camera, and son's mobile phone, the detective came an interview her and others so see what happens, and gather info. i don't think i will never recover my jewelry but at least i want to know who was the bastard!!! they are checking into all compraventas.. but some of the people that owns those places are accomplices

The sad thing is I never take my jewelry to Colombia just a few earrings and that's it but being a damm bit lazy that day i didn't took my other jewelries from the little box and packed the whole thing, , yes it sad but what can i do, that will teach me a lesson. most of the rings had a sentimental value that is the sad part *cry*

Cerealkiller says on Sep 3, 2007, 09:21:

oh Kat I am very sorry to hear about that. There is not much you can do about it now, its a great thing that you did not let it ruin your holidays, thats a fantastic trait to have.

Desideria (Moderator) says on Sep 3, 2007, 09:30:

That's weird, though, why would she take just your jewelry? Was that the most valuable thing there?
Yes, it looks like it could've been the cleaning lady or perhaps some friend of hers. I had trouble with thieving maids too, just little things, a ring, underwear, towels disappearing little by little. One of my maids, a wonderful black lady from Cauca who helped me with the babies a lot and I really loved her took just a dozen glasses. When I asked the other maid she said that she had said that I didn't need them, I had plenty! If only she had asked!

She came by later, to bring me a coffee plant she had promised me from her parents' farm and to visit. I never asked her about the glasses, it was not worth it.

Cheers,
Desi

hi desi, yes it was weird, they did a lot of mess in all of the rooms except downstairs, another weird thing was my dad have a little fridge in his room, and kept some chocolates i brought to him from the UK, this person took the chocolates out of the fridge and threw them all over my sister's bed, also the laptop was out so the digital camera and those weren't stolen, my dad have a collection of expensive torches and they didn't took those one either, neither his watch. i think the person that took my jewelries new were they were , because my room was the one with the least mess. I think they came just for my jewels

CK well what can I do,i couldn't let that ruin my holidays, at least they are replaceable (sp)

Here's a story in English about the bldg http://www.emporis.com/en/bu/nc/ne/?id=101801

News: Torre La Escollera On Hold and Redesigned

Cartagena: Torre La Escollera, which was to have been Colombia’s tallest building, will not now be completed. The decision was taken by ActionCol S.A. - the building’s owner - after floors 28 to 40 were damaged as the result of a storm that hit the city last week. The building’s developer had planned to rebuild the damaged floors but the structure was deemed too unstable, resulting in the removal of the beams.

Originally to have been 208 metres tall with 58 floors, doubts had for months been expressed by Colombian construction experts about the structural stability of the tower’s slender profile.

The developer is now planning to build a tower that will have between 15 to 20 floors.
