Wedding in Cali-Colombia

Hi to all:
My name is Maria Fernanda. My fiance and I are planning to get marry in Cali-Colombia. I'd like some advice from people that actually got married in Cali-Colombia in terms of organization and costs. I've searched the web for wedding planners in Cali but I get results mainly for Bogota or Medellin.

I'd like to have the wedding in a garden that is the main request. If anyone had a wedding in a garden in Cali-Colombia please share your experience. Thanks...

Congratulations and best wishes to you both! I am married to a woman in Cali, but we had to get married by Poder Especial. So, I cannot help you with wedding planners in Cali.

I will advise you to determine the requirements for paperwork as soon as possible. (You may have thought of this already.) Some of your fiance's documents may be very difficult to obtain quickly from Colombia. In addition, if you have a child from a prior marriage, you will need a document from the court that took over one month to obtain.

Wedding in Cali-Colombia Thanks Cary for your advice. Honestly I haven't given much thought to the legal requirements. But thanks for reminding me what a hassle that can be. Our plans are to get marry in New York where we live and have the religious wedding in Cali. We are both US Citizens and planning to get marry in the US. I'm guessing for the legal standpoint that should be okay. I have to confirm that. I'm ecuadorian but naturalized as a US citizen. He was born in the US. If anyone had the same situation...Please share....THANKS

Right Away.... (Desi chip in here) go the USA Embassy site and see what is required for a CATHOLIC wedding in Colombia. While the priest may conduct the wedding in a garden it will NOT be the same as a church wedding. My wife and I were married in a small city just out side of Cali called Jumandi.
Lots of ranches people book for private parties out that way-Desi, any names? I seem to recall one named Hacienda Las Mañanitas.

The paper work for the church is fairly strict. Don't forget to register the wedding with a Colombian notary after the wedding. The cost can vary from very cheap to as much as you want to spend. I will guarantee you it will be one heck of a lot cheaper than the states. I think we spent something like $400 USD but it was a while ago when the peso was around 400/1.

questions:

1. Your wedding day is going to be during the day or night?

2. What kind of celebration: catholic, Christian or civil wedding? (priest or pastor, notary?)

3. I know three possible places (garden-haciendas), Not sure if are available, specially for november-december

1. Your wedding day is going to be during the day or night? My wedding would be during the evening and hopefully until the next day. Probably starting at 5pm.

2. What kind of celebration: catholic, Christian or civil wedding? (priest or pastor, notary?) It will be only a religious wedding. We will have the civil wedding in the US.

3. I know three possible places (garden-haciendas), Not sure if are available, specially for november-december. We are hoping to celebrate the wedding on January or February... we would love to celebrate it on December but I believe since there is La Feria de Cali it may be more expensive to get marry around that time.

Thanks for your questions. I hope to get some answers soon...
