Web Design

I need a bit of web design work in Bogota.

More specifically . . . CSS, Flash, maybe some Java, etc.

Any recommendations for a professional & reasonably priced person or company?

Thanks!

Hi, twmcm
Remember the web is internet, so a web designer can be in china and you in bogotá and he can work for you.
I am a web site designer student, if you need some help just let me know and if you want PM me and I can help you

I've tried working with remote designers from India and a couple other places . . . it failed.

I'd really rather pay a little more and get a lot more. After all, nothing beats face-to-face when it comes to what is essentially an artistic effort.

If' you are capable of the artwork and layout for a full website, please let me know and we can go from there.

twmcm: I don't know much about what constitutes a web designer actually, but we do have a few posters here that seem to be fairly good with this type of stuff. Only members that come to mind are Webman, Rociante and Mario (?) that seem to be saavy in this area or might know someone to help you. Good luck...I think ..Purrr

I know this guy who made the website for our foundation (www.manosporcolombia.org) and he did this for some architects too www.estudio-arq.com
I found him reasonably priced and trustworthy, his website is: http://www.eb3000.com/
The website has some more examples of work he has done.

Roci - your face comment was pretty good. I laughed aloud (actually, more a muffled chuckle) when I first read it.

Everyone else - I think I've found someone . . . Nonetheless, if you (and your face) are in Bogota, don't be bashful, drop me a line.

I am having a number of websites "developed" here in the Philippines. They are being built with PHP scripting designed for Web 2.0 specifically and with a MYSQL data base. Also, CSS. I can refer you to the person who does this for me. This is high end scripting that is needed if you are looking for any kind of presence on the Web. Anyone can build or design a website but if you want quality especially if you want to expand or sell a product on the internet you need someone to develop a website from the ground up. In my humble opinion. And, Flash, Java and Javax will slow down the loading of your website, so you need it done by someone who knows what they are doing. So why get it done in the Philippines? English language is prevalent here and there are lots of programmers who offer their services for a good price.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I need a lot of website design work done for several websites in Colombia, the UK and the USA. I have used a Colombian company before and the quality of work was high, as good as companies I have used in the UK. On the other hand they were bad at communicating and legalistic about small changes to the specification, not very flexible at all, and occasionally quite rude.
Anyone in Colombia who is prepared to be flexible and helpful, and can do work fairly quickly and efficiently please contact me via PM.

Nice attitude. I have seen just as many crappy sites come out of the US and especially the UK.

My brother has had several very complex travel sites built by that company in Colombia and they all work flawlessly. He does hundreds of sales a day and never has any problems.

johnny2008 says on Oct 2, 2008, 07:37:

Colombian gringo, you have NOT seen major government websites of the UK not working, nor the website of the capital's mass transit system not functioning correctly nor a website of a seemingly professional company of computer engineers not working. And I cannot think of any other country in the world where their flag carrying airline's website does not work.

Rest assured I am doing my best to get to the root of the problem hence I take such a keen interest.

Exito for example has an excellent website, it just seems a very hit and miss affair and most site owners don't seem to care that their sites don't work.

If you know of a colombian company that puts together complex travel sites then I would like to see their work.
