Weather in Cartagena

Could anyone advise on the weather in Cartagena in December and January. I am currently planning a trip to Cartagena in early December but every time I look at the weather.com forecast is shows thunderstorms every day (including the latest 10 day forecast. Does this mean that there is just a shower every afternoon at 4pm (like in Florida) or is it genuinely wet all day?
If I want blue skies and sunshine is it best to delay my trip until mid January or does the weather clear up in January?
Thanks

Weather in Ctg More likely to be rain like Florida, very rarely wet all day, it is the rainy season at the moment, it tends to rain a lot less from early to mid December onwards.

Rains end in December then is sunny and hot as hell, my kind of weather. If you’re very fair, ok, a real white modefoque, in a couple hours you'll be that same color as those letters directly above, spelling out your name.

over 5 million colombianos in USA and only 27 barranquilleros, i'm one.Curramba, el mejor vividero del mundo!

Thanks for the replies. Since I like my weather hot and sunny I will probably defer my two week trip until mid-January (hopefully this will also be after the busy xmas/new year holiday season).

Sunseeker If you want to miss the peak season, I would recomend mid January or later as well.

Sunseeker-a bit of personal experience I've lived in Dearborn, Michigan-Atlanta-Lakeland (Central Fl)
the islands of SW Florida-Merida, Venezuela, and Cartagena.

For me, during the hottest months the interior cities (Dearborn, Atlanta, and Lakeland were the most unpleasant in the way of both temterature and HUMIDITY.

I've lived in El Centro where I think it is an average of 2 degrees F warmer than Laguito, and a bit more humid as well. While Cartagena is warm year round (some say "hot"), living on the beach, and on sixth floor offers a breeze nearly ALL of the time-nice! So the trade-off for me is Merida, similiar to Medellin, Colombia, with eternal spring, or the warmth of the Caribbean and daily access to the water....nice.

If your gordo, your outta luck, as the heat will bother you no matter where you live...

regards,
Jim
