Weather in Bogota

Okay, for all you people that know Bogota well, what is the weather actually like there? I see a huge variance in reports on the Internet (tomorrow could be anywhere from 57 to 84 degrees), and I am not sure what to believe.
Some people tell me it is cold there all the time; others say it is mild and pleasant.
Soooooo how about some opinions from those that have experienced it!!
Thanks...

Bogota has usually between 16-20 degC during the day and 5 - 10 degC during the night.
84 degrees??? cant be, not even in the Sahara desert you get that kind of temperature.
Oh, you mean Fahrenheit???? 84F???? I have seen that also here on TV, people just dont know what they are talking about. They think: tropics....is 33 degC....then they start guessing instead of knowing. Then they forget that Bog is in the mountains.

Bogotá has pleasant temperatures if you are from the UK, in the day it is usually 65 to 70 degrees F. At night it is usually around 45 to 50 degrees Farenheit. If it is a sunny day it was t-shirt weather for me, however my wife who is a native of Bogotá felt cold. I noticed a lot of folks, especially women bundled up with leather jackets and scarves, even gloves and I was walking around with my sleeves pushed up.

Contrary to what others have posted the sun does indeed shine and because of the altitude you may get sunburn, use a sunblock and lip balm if you are sensitive. I live in Florida and am used to the sun, yet my nose and cheeks took on a decidedly reddened appearance after a few days in Bogotá.

A sunny day in Bogotá is the best.

I agree with Kernow. Protect yourself from the sun!!! There are 2.6 kilometers less of atmosphere to block out the sun.

what others have posted where? Noone has written before that the sun doesnt shine in Bogota. Until now only the temperature was discussed.
BTW, I agree with your wife, Bogota is too cold.

If someone wants to have mild and pleasant weather then Medallo (Medellin) would be the best choice.

gringo, Your sinus problems maight be caused by pollution. In that case, Medellin will make them worse! Mine improved considearbly in going from Medellin to Bogota. To me, Bogota's weather is perfect (I like sweater weather). But I am fro Medellin, where a T-shirt always feels comfortable.

Bogota weather People in Bogota talk about the weather a lot, as if it changes extremely, but the reality is that the weather is quite boring. Mostly grey. Rains a lot. Never too hot or cold. Sunny clear days here are lovely but unfortunately rare. Reminds me of nothing more than Portland Oregon in the spring.

Colombia has every temperature and climate You just have to get in a bus, drive,or taxi.

Bogota for me any day, (or night)there is a lovely little town just down the slope about an hours casual drive from there, it's called La Vega, Lovely.

Weekends etc, it is only a short drive to many of the 'down the hill' areas whwere the temperature rises and you can stop when it suits your taste. You do not have to stay in Bogota all the time.

I have the feeling that my novia and I will settle in La vega. If I can convince her that it was her idea.

Sunny days If I could change one thing in Bogotá is the lack of sunny days. I do not mind the rain, but I hate grey, cloudy days of which we have too many in Bogotá.

Medellin is like Cartagena these days, around 32-35 degrees C.

Spring! Good spring weather in the UK is a comparison. I Like the weather here, I'm more a sweater than a t-shirt person. But I agree with the comments about the locals finding it colder. The kids at my school come in wrapped in gloves and scarfs when I don't even bother with a jacket.

sunny days If a guy likes sunshine and not-too-hot temps, would you suggest Bogota or Medellin? I HATE day after day of gray skies, but people tell me that even on rainy days Bogota gets blue skies.

Sunny Days If I think of Bogotá I think grey days, it is not a blue city by any means. If you like blue days I would go for Medellin for sure.

you guys agree with Juan? Does Bogota get grey days for days on end? Or, do most days have at least some blue sky? Please let me know, I may be moving to Colombia next year and must choose a city, Medellin or Bogota. Gracias.

Bogotá You do get a lot of cloud cover, regardless. Even on a nice afternoon there is plenty of cloud cover. Blue skies only maybe in January or February. I complain all the time about Bogota´s weather I hope to move one day to a warmer less rainy place. From March-June and from October-December it rains a lot especially the middle months of April (Abril lluvias mil) and November. I have some very good English friends and they always say it is not different than London weather. You can have days that are rainy all day long. You can have days that you have a strong shower and then sun.
