Water in Medellin

I have a reverse osmosis water filteration system then I run it through a distiller and then I filter it again. It is the best water you ever tasted. I want to bring it to Medellin so I can enjoy it there. My novia says I don't need it because the water in Medellin is the best in South America. Is she correct?

I have a massive filtration system on my 465' well in the mountains in N..C. I was a little worried the first time i went to Medellin, but the water there is just fine.. NO filter required for me!

IloveCidy says in his an earlier post,"I miss my novia
I know I don't have a good reason to post but I don't know what to do. I miss my novia so much it hurts. I have never felt like this before. I miss her so much. I don't know what to do."

Correct me if I'm wrong, am I correct to assume that you have never been to Medellin? If, your so-called novia lives in Medellin, and you've never actually been to Medellin to meet her, I hate to break the news to you, you DO NOT have a novia, so there is nothing to miss as your earlier post suggested.

Is this correct?

Oh yeah, the water in Medellin is fine.

While I can't comment on the water in Medellin I am glad to hear you chose a filter to improve your own water.... it is a far better & healthier option than those giant plastic bottles (which are basically only tap water that someone *else* has filtered and stuck in a bottle)..

I met my novia on the Internet. We met face to face on vacation but not in Medellin.

Adrimm you are correct bottled water is not practical and is bad for the planet. However, if you figure out all that the equipment cost and the operating cost, you probably don't save any money.

I was surprised when I first tasted the water from Medellin. First rate and boy were the locals proud of it back in 2001.

Adrimm, i buy those big bottles of water, have you any proof that they are actually made from filtered tap water?

paulr, it's been reported numerous times in the press, with bottled water companies admitting to it as well.

I read before coming to Medellin that the water here was the 2nd most clean after Paris but be careful because sometimes pubes from buildings can be old.

Distilled water has no flavor, and if you distill it, I'd think you need to do nothing else, as you have already removed everything (including what gives the water a flavor).

The best water I have ever drunk, came out of my 300' well in the Pennsylvania Blue Ridge Mountains, no filtering, no distallation, just the water with its mineral content.

The bottled water (or city water, which is tested far more often) fans might like the Read John Stossel's commentary:

http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Health/Story?id=728070&page=1

He mentions that bottled water is, sometimes, simply tap water, from someplace else.

I would hope the water in major Colombian cities is also tested 100 times per month (but I read that in another report).

ILC Financial costs perhaps - but there are other costs as well: Water can only sit so long in plastic before the plastic chemicals start leaching into it. Worse if the bottles are exposed to light... so there is the health cost (albeit probably only incrementally more so compared to all the other chemicals & carcinogens most of us are exposed to in daily life- ie. flame retardants in plastic, vehicle exhaust, addtives in food etc).

Personally I just drink tap water.... so neither the cost of under-counter-filtration or bottling are an issue for me ;)

all above opinions aside. the puddin test is the ONLY one to settle this.

go west of central, to barrio triste....drink the water. then back to oriental and back towards san diego...just north of the 'rock sculpture' turn east and you're in nikitau...dangerous place; drink the water. then to poblado, drink the water. finally--respect to other barrios not included--go up to las palmas, drink the water. solution....drink the water in las palmas. it's the best around. down town in triste, better to just pee in a cup, add ice, then drink.

is medallo the best city water in the world. in my experience, hell no. any city water, anywhere above 6,000 ft. is pretty much uncontaminated. comes from rock/granite aquafirs and is usually pure and delicions. drinking water from the mtn springs on the old road to sante fe de antioquia is a treat. pure, clean, cool. as far as where around medallo is good \water? go up-country to el retiro, maranilla, carmen de viboral, rionegro, porvenir...each and every one of these pueblos has water far nicer, cleaner, more delicious than medellin. so, in contrast to the opinions of others, you haven't discovered the best kept secret in the world on where the best water is. it AIN'T in medellin.

Filters, schmilters. The water in MedellĂn is pretty safe to drink alone, in juices, cooking, coffee, etc. I don't know if it's the best in South America since I haven't tasted every city's water but it is pretty dang tasty.

I do not drink tap water in the place I live, not because I am worried about bacteria or microbes, but because where I live is a highly industrial place, and I don't completely trust in the cleanliness of water as far as industrial wastes, things like led for example. Also tap water tastes horrible here (In my opinion). What I try to do is by water by the gallon.
