Wow, that's more expensive than here in San Francisco. Is that a mansion with swimming pool and all the goodies?

i've been shopping and it's nowhere near that price. 80 - 120 k for a 2 -3 bdrm. his place must be a mansion!

Mark1, how much for exactly a 2 bedroom house? I am visiting Bogota in August for the first time, and if I like it, I'd want to buy a modest house (not a luxury house or mansion) to retire there. I do speak Spanish fluently as I am Cuban. When you mention that range of 80-120K--USD I assume, are you talking about houses or condo apartments? If I want to retire in Bogota (I am a city man), I am only want a house. However, I am open to hear about other cities, but not a town.

BTW, i don't have that kind of money to buy a 2 million dollar masion since I find that unnecessary for my purpose.

Thanks.

go to century 21 site, then click on international on the right side of the screen, it's a good way to get started.

gringoloid, are the prices posted at century 21 in US dollars or Colombian pesos? All of the houses I have seen at that web site are priced between $1-2 million and $6-7 million, but I am not sure if these are US dollar prices. By the way, I don't even know how to make a reasonable search since I don't know the area or barrios. Anyway, I will keep this site in mind when I visit Bogota in August.

Even I'm not living right now in Bogotá, I know that area ( I' lived in three different places between Calle 97 and 82 and cras. 7 to 15), and you sure can get a good 1-2 bedrooms apartment for 150K-200K US Dollars. You just have to make a good search.

I didnt find the Century 21 colombia site...Seems like they didnt last very long. Two million bucks for a flat in Bogota does not seem right, I think your friend is pulling your leg big time. Calle 94 con 11 is not even the most expensive sq meter in the city.
I suggest you look at metrocuadrado.com

Hmm, yesterday I saw some nice condos with two bedrooms and a nice layaout for $20-$40k USD, but I don't remember the location. These condos surely look much better than my apartment in San Franacisco. I will be soon in Bogota and one of my friends managas one nice condo. I hope I can get some help from her understanding the situation in Bogota, for I don't really need much when I get old and ready to kick the bucket.

there are a lot of really nice homes out in La Coligna that are fairly priced, but coligna is far away from the action. it's either a long taxi ride or a long drive in the car over potholes. and then you have to park.

what I've been doing is taking note of the for sale signs in the windows and then calling. dealing with owners and go betweens directly has really helped. I'm finding some better deals.
